Wilmington University (WilmU) is a private, nonprofit, open-access, and accredited institution. Since it was founded in 1968, WilmU has been dedicated to providing quality education at an affordable price. The school provides low, in-state tuition rates for all students, including online students. WilmU offers over 130 online programs — from certificates to doctoral degrees — that can be completed on a part- or full-time basis. WilmU features both fully online degrees and in-person degrees. In fact, many of the most popular online schools also offer on-campus educational opportunities. Students interested in studying online will find plenty of degree options in business, healthcare, and education. In-person programs are completed at one of the school's 12 campus locations throughout New Jersey and Delaware.

Is Wilmington University Legitimate?

What Is Wilmington University Known For?


WilmU is well-known for having flexible course options. For students who prefer to study online, there are over 130 programs to choose from. These degrees offer the same quality as in-person programs but with the flexibility of studying online and at a student's own pace. Online classes can be taken through two different class formats: 15-week semesters or 7-week blocks.

Students who aim to study on campus may also take advantage of the aforementioned semester and block formats, plus the addition of weekend-only classes. With 12 campus locations to choose from, local students have numerous options to attend all or some classes near their homes.

Which Degrees at WilmU Provide the Highest Earnings for Graduates?


WilmU's online Registered Nursing to Bachelor of Science in Nursing is the highest earning degree among graduates after three years. According to College Scorecard's federal data, students can expect to earn a median salary of around $77,000 in just three years after graduating from this program. 

The next highest earning degree is the online Bachelor of Science in Information Systems Management, where graduates can earn a median yearly salary of approximately $55, 500. The Bachelor of Science in Business Management is not far behind, with a salary of a little over $54,000.

Another way to understand what a graduate might earn is through OnlineU's Salary Score. This proprietary system looks at alumni salaries from a school's programs compared to the same programs from other schools. WilmU has an overall Salary Score of 66 for its bachelor's degrees, including those in nursing, business management, and information systems.

How Difficult Is It To Get Into WilmU?


Wilmington University has an open admissions policy. This means that 100% of students are accepted as long as they've completed high school or a GED test. In most cases, students are not required to submit entrance exam scores, such as an ACT or SAT. However, if they are submitted, students may be exempt from taking English and math placement assessments (which are part of the application process).

What Are the Admission Requirements for WilmU?


Admission requirements vary based on what program a student is applying for and whether it's at the undergraduate, graduate, certificate, or doctorate level. The following list will help prepare undergraduate students to apply for a degree program online:

  • Complete an application through the school's online portal. Students must specify which semester they wish to start classes, and a $35 application fee is required.
  • Submit transcripts from any post-secondary institutions, such as trade schools or community colleges. For students who are transferring less than 15 credits, an official high school diploma with a graduation date or proof of a GED is also required.
  • Submit immunization records to the admission office.
  • After an application is sent, applicable students can take the placement assessments in math and English.

In general, WilmU does not have GPA requirements. However, students at its College of Education must have a 3.0 GPA or higher to be admitted.

This school should 100% be rated higher, and I think they are working toward that. The finance program has boosted my earning power in the accounting field where I am already employed. I enjoyed my time at Wilmington! I feel that it was a great education at a very affordable price. I appreciated that the staff was always willing to help me and assist me when I needed them. Wilmington University is a great school. They offer several online degree programs as well as online classes. Several of the teachers have real life experience in the area they are teaching. The teachers are very knowledgeable and ready to help if anyone should have any questions. Wilmington University has students attending from all around the world through online learning. I would highly recommend this school to anyone especially if one is working online.
