Webster University

I am an Educator, U.S. Navy Veteran and a Scholar (M.Ed) who graduated with a 3.8 GPA from Webster University back in May of 2016 with a MA Degree in Human Resource Management. I am a member of Golden Key International Honor Society, The Society for Collegiate Leadership and Achievement and Sigma Beta Delta (International Honor Society). I was brought to this website from my alumnae. I, like so many others, am so angry at this Webster as I was misled at every step of the way! My Webster MBA was simply a total waste of time and over $33,000 (not including opportunity costs and lost income). The courses were book-led (comprised of reading 15 easy chapters and taking 2 tests), the teachers were "instructors" and not professors (only 2 of mine had PHD's and all were low level employees at local companies and not Experts), and the rehash... Read More of material from one course to another was scandalous. When you're paying over $2000 plus a course you expect a lot more than simple addition and subtraction, little homework and vocational school level courses from non published sales managers from local companies. Don't get me started on Webster's Walker's business school's reputation in the business world with its bottom 1% ranking! Webster's George Walker school also clearly misled its students regarding basics such as being "fully" accredited (it's not aacsb accredited), quality and level of its coursework, investment in its courses (there was none whatsoever), ranking of the business school and MBA, hiring and prospects of its graduates, and alumnae connections to the corporate world. Webster boasts over 200,000 alumnae. So where are they when you ask for help in getting a job, internship, mentor, or corporate connections like every other business school? The few "Webster contacts" I managed to score on my own disowned Webster and advised not to even finish an MBA there. In 2020 you cannot pump out junk degrees, charge high prices and expect people to be happy for a piece of paper that's a laughing stock. I see the Webster has now collapsed into being a tiny local school and the business school nearly none existent down from 25,000 10 years ago to about 1500 today. This is what Webster gets for flogging ridiculously-priced 10th rate MBA and business degrees that are a joke. Even my former teachers (I use the word loosely) I have bumped into have quit or were laid off and now want to forget that they even taught at Webster University. Finally, the faculty have officially spoken out demanding a seat at the decision-making table! Where were they over the last decades regarding Webster's questionable academics and the setting up of campuses in prisons, rented company lunch rooms and shopping malls ? Don't even look at their promotional materials never mind give them any money. I want a refund!!!!

I completed the Webster University MET completely online. Overall, my experience with Webster University was positive. First I had an exceptional advisor that worked with me throughout the program. Once I was accepted he asked me how many classes I wanted to take per semester--after that I was enrolled every semester for my required classes. He responded to questions quickly, provided great advice, and genuinely seemed interested in me as a person and student. As for the Professors during the courses,... They were quick to respond with answers to questions, provided an acceptable turnaround time on grades, and again seemed interested in being part of my personal and professional growth. The course ended with a Capstone project with the requirement to create a Digital Portfolio. I would this "okay". The best piece of advice I can give to anyone looking at this program is to save every assignment and review provided by your professors. I did this and I will be honest, the Capstone was simple--a lot of copy and paste. I understand that this is something that I can use to showcase my experience at Webster, but I don't feel in the end it was "Master Level" work. Lastly, I attended the local graduation ceremony. There were a total of about 60 people that graduated and for a satellite location, Webster did the a wonderful job. What impressed me most was the President of Webster, Dr. Stroble, attended the ceremony.

I did my research before applying to business school, and I am very pleased that I went with Webster University. The 1-year accelerated MBA program was a big challenge. The university ensured the same curriculum in the regular MBA program mirrored the 1-year program, as it should. My instructors were knowledgeable, responsive, professional and inspiring. The curriculum was challenging but applicable to the every day corporate world, which was extremely important to me. I have been working for 8 years, and didn't want to enroll in a program with students who just earned their bachelor's and were just rolling into their next degree program. Not that this is a problem, it just wasn't the academic environment I wanted while earning my MBA. I really enjoyed the way Webster's curriculum encouraged students to discuss experiences, study them and then apply course material to make them better in the future. For me, the Statistics and Corporate Finance courses were the most challenging, but my instructors were great about answering questions and supplying examples to help me out, not to mention many students used the online messaging to work together on homework questions. I would highly recommend Webster University's MBA program.
