I had an exceptional experience with Touro in the MFT program. it is a great fit for working students, single parents, people in rural areas like myself, who do not have access to traditional education options, or anyone who cannot attend traditional classes in person. Yes, this was difficult to navigate and I began my search for a site soon after I began the MFT program. I think if one maintains realistic expectations and is willing to do the work, it is a great opportunity. if you're someone who might need more support from the school, this might not be the best option. All the professors I had were responsive and knowledgeable in their field. The tuition is affordable and has allowed me to earn a degree that would not have been possible for me otherwise. I am very grateful to Touro for the opportunities provided to me. in my view, the school is really helping to improve the field of marriage and family therapy by creating opportunities for non-traditional students like myself.

The DHS program was disorganized, underdeveloped, and unprofessional like it was run off the corner of someone's desk. There was no original coursework, only links to academic papers and websites. An administrator could have done the job of posting links. The professors were barely attending the course, seemed indifferent, and there was little to no guidance or instructions for students. Emails went unanswered and links to coursework were sometimes broken. There was no guarantee of students learning... Read More since there was no professor-student interactions, few to no constructive comments from the professors, and students were expected to post comments to learn from each other. The proposal and research portion didn't provide students with an outline of the university's guidelines or expectations or plan. Informal emails were sent with some information but were filled with mistakes and missing data. Students didn't know who to turn to or who was in charge. The university needs to make more effort and provide higher quality. Its better to quit the program and enroll at a different university with a higher quality education and better reputation.

It's a no for me; the instructors are actually decent. However, administrative staff members such as the Community Placement Liaison Advisor, Director, MFT Program MFT Faculty, Assistant Director, and MFT Program Coordinator of Practicum MFT Faculty have little expertise in the field. They are unconcerned about consistency or basic abilities. They are often telling students that they are too busy to help them. And blame the students for things like missing documentation or unapproved placements.... Read More They authorize sites that will allow students to obtain their MFT licenses. THIS PLACE IS A DIPLOMA MILL! If you actually want to attend a school that cares about it's students and invests in their education look elsewhere. The professors are absentee and the course work only consists of obtuse readings and written discussions about these readings. There are no recorded or written lectures by the professors. 90% of the time the readings are impossible to understand, academic nonsense that will not apply in any way to your future career. This left me having to conduct independent research on the subject matter in order to answer the discussion thread question. The academic advisement team is an absolute joke that provides outdated, inaccurate information about the needlessly complicated practicum process. In short, there seems to be no one competent steering the ship. If I could do it again, I would absolutely not attend TUW.

The overall values of TUW is great however for it being an online school, you would hope they would have a bigger and better with supportive staff especially in your final year. It seems very understaffed not as supportive as it could be, lacks in following up meaning when a student has an urgent message to be answered it takes 3 days before hearing back. No student who is investing in there school and program should feel this way. My suggestion read reviews trust your gut, spend more money on a school that gives you the support you need.

I attended NY Medical College, which is a Touro school, for my MPH and had a great experience. The coursework was rigorous and the professors were helpful, accessible, and expected excellence. So I didn't hesitate to pursue my doctorate at Touro. I completed 4 courses before I withdrew -- the courses were almost identical to the classes I already took for my MPH, except a bit more volume of work was required. The accelerated semester program does allow you to get your degree more quickly than other schools, but I felt that the quality of teaching was not as good, the work I was required to do was repetitive and definitely not at the doctoral level. If you need a terminal degree and want to get it fast and relatively inexpensively, this school is for you. If you want rigorous coursework and tough professors, go elsewhere, especially if your career requires a research-based PhD.

I attended TUW part-time and completed the MFT program in three years. I completed the practicum portion in ten months, working in a school setting counseling children and adolescents. I'm currently waiting for my associate number. The Marriage and Family program is a quality program and school. It is not easy, but you'll learn a lot. I am just about finished with my second practicum course. If you want to do your MFT coursework here, it is important that you know you will be required to record sessions (audio and video) with your clients. Another thing you should know is that in your practicum course conferences, all levels of students are mixed together. So if you're a beginning practicum student, you could be in the course with more advanced students. You could be the only beginning practicum student mixed in with students that are close to graduating the program. This has advantages and disadvantages.
