St. John Fisher College

SJFU has a campus in Rochester, New York for local students and an online school for remote students. There are eight online degrees available in business administration, education, and healthcare fields. There are also a number of hybrid programs, with a portion of courses taught online while others require some in-person classroom attendance. Overall, the National Center for Education Statistics shows that 33% of SJFU's undergraduates study at least partially online. 

Students can tell if SJFU is legitimate by looking at its accreditation status. Accreditation refers to the process by which a third-party agency provides quality assurance for a school's curriculum and faculty. Every school listed on the OnlineU site is accredited. Specifically, St. John Fisher University is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE).

SJFU was named after a Catholic cardinal and saint in 1948. Today, Fisher maintains its religious traditions while remaining an independent Catholic institution. The core curriculum that all first-year students must take does not require faith-based courses. However, the school does draw upon its Catholic traditions through civic engagement. For example, between 2018 and 2019, SJFU students completed 421,461 hours of community service.

The highest earning degree at Fisher is the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN to BSN). According to College Scorecard, graduates that have been in the workforce for three years can expect to earn a median annual salary of ~$62,200. Additional high earning degrees at Fisher include in accounting, finance, and marketing — with salaries between $51,900 and $59,700, respectively. SJFU offers an online Master of Business Administration with a concentration in accounting. 

OnlineU's Salary Score compares alumni salaries from different colleges using the same degree.  On a scale of 1 to 100, this metric rates Fisher as having a 43 score at the bachelor's level and 34 at the master's level. 

College Scorecard reveals a 68% acceptance rate at Fisher, which is around the national average. Aside from a favorable acceptance rate, students may find it easier to apply than some other schools because there is no application fee. This helps first-year students save money during the application process. Furthermore, Fisher is a test-optional school, meaning applicants mare not required to submit college entrance exams to get in. 

First-year undergraduate students applying to college at Fisher don't have to meet a specific GPA threshold to be considered unless they are transfer students (in which case a 2.0 GPA is required). Fisher also notes that the middle 50% of all first-year accepted students have a high school GPA of at least an 87 GPA — equal to a 3.3 GPA on a 4.0 scale. 

First-year students must complete the following steps to apply:

• Complete St. John Fisher University's online application through the Common App.    
• Submit high school transcripts, including senior year courses and grades.
• Submit a counselor or teacher recommendation. 
• A personal essay is also required as part of the Common Application process. However, students may submit a graded paper instead.

Beyond these requirements, students can include additional letters of recommendation or a resume.
