Their curriculum consists of a few youtube videos or web articles and lessons graded by rubric. The instructors do no actual teaching. They use AI to grade their tech classes. Instructors are just there to monitor student behavior. Most of them I encountered were either entirely checked out or horribly cruel. the majority of my education involved google searches because the youtube videos were outdated or broken.

Everything I've seen so far at SNHU is on par academically with my previous experiences receiving my bachelor's from a well-known public university (UCF), and my master's from a respected art & design school (MICA). As someone who has taught at the university level, I've seen how not having standardized course structures can backfire, causing overlap in the course material and confusion about what each professor is responsible for teaching. Finally, people learn by doing, and SNHU courses require a lot of writing and researching (aka doing). I would fall into the non-traditional student category as I'm returning to school for a second master's degree in my 40s with a full-time job and a family. I work in technology and pursuing a master's in I/O psychology to enhance my skill set as a researcher. Since I don't have a social science undergrad, I must take prerequisite courses (Statistics, Research Methods, etc.) before starting my program - this is a welcomed approach, as other schools I looked into wouldn't even look at me without a bachelor's in psychology. I've found the courses challenging but not overwhelming, and a good balance for me to juggle school with all my other responsibilities. My professors have been friendly, supportive, and willing to help however they can. Still, you have to reach out to them proactively - they won't hold your hand, and they expect students (especially at the graduate level) to take responsibility for their education. So far, I'm enjoying my experience at SNHU and looking forward to applying the learned knowledge to my career.

They do not care about their students I received extra funding from financial aid for the 2022-2023 school year when I did my 2023-2024 fasfa I noticed that the extra funding given was no longer on my statement so I called the school and asked about it because it is first distributed to the school then they are supposed to distribute it to students with the most financial need however the school informed me no matter how much financial distress a student might be in that campus... Read More students are a first priority and are first to receive the funding even if an online student shows more need for it the funding still goes to campus students first. Things got even worse when I got closer to graduation they would adjust my financial aid several times during a term and the closer graduation got the less they seemed to care. My GPA went down and I got behind due to a death in the family, after everything calmed down I wanted to get back on track and was 3 classes away from graduating with my associate's degree so I get to my final class I buy my book and start the first-week completing assignments and turning them in. The second week comes and I no longer have access to the class so I call the school and I am informed that I have been suspended due to my GPA this is after I already started the class purchased the book and was turning assignments in. I explained that it was very unprofessional to charge a person for the class, let them pay for a book, and waste time turning assignments in and without no warning suspend me. The school is in the wrong because right after they went in and deleted all my financial aid information and all the funding I received for previous terms. The school's concern for me lessened the nearer I got to graduation I contacted them several times for information on any type of help I could get to get through the last 3 classes and no one ever sent me anything or told me about any resources that may be available mind you I am a single mother of 4 children that I take care of completely on my own with no other help. The only answers I got were staff getting an attitude with me and saying their funding is reserved for campus students first. All I was trying to do is get through my last 3 classes and graduate, I was planning to go on and complete my bachelor's degree but the lack of concern shown by Southern New Hampshire University made me not even want to graduate through them. Beware if considering Southern New Hampshire University they mess with your financial aid and the closer you get to graduating the less they will be concerned with you or care about you graduating.

SNHU has been a great choice for me while pursuing a business administration degree. From the start the flexibility of online courses is convenient if you are a full-time working adult. Most professors have doctoral degrees and I've only seen one or two that just held a master's degree in their respective field. I have taken classes at a local community college in person and honestly the workload/difficulty was fairly similar. The only difference being that SNHU has compressed semesters which I actually prefer. Academic advising has been AMAZING and even call me to check in every few weeks to make sure thing are going well and are ready to provide resources to help you in your journey there.

SNHU promotes itself as being above the fray of other online schools, but it's the same: the educational experience is centered around a blackboard with automated discussion questions that are not designed by the "instructor," an instructor who doesn't lecture, not even a videotaped lecture. They have the audacity to refer to this as student centered learning. The instructor does not create the questions or facilitate the discussions. You merely need to answer the question and respond to at least 2 of your classmates by a deadline. You are not required to respond to the instructor, who is severely marginalized. You are expected to write papers about subjects you probably don't understand because the instructor has failed to provide any information beside reading materials. I don't know about anyone else, but I didn't agree to pay thousands of dollars in tuition to learn from people who also don't have a college degree; rather, I expected to learn from the expert, the person with the advanced degrees and professional experience. Also, anyone can be admitted into the program as long as they quality for federal aid; it doesn't matter if students have low GPAs or no standardized test scores. I recall that many of the students in my classes had poor writing skills, which is an indication of their reading comprehension skills. Bottom line is online programs like this are a huge rip off for the students enrolled and tax payers. They are diploma mills. You don't get what you pay for.
