Johns Hopkins University is a popular online school that hosts remote students from around the U.S. and internationally. The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) reports that more than half of its graduate students are enrolled only in distance education courses.

According to many categories listed in College Scorecard, JHU may be considered a good school by many. For example. its 93% graduation rate is 35% higher than the midpoint for other four-year universities. Also, the school's average annual cost for students who receive financial aid is $4,600 less expensive and its graduates' median earnings are $39,200 higher than its competitors. 

Accreditation is also an important consideration. This means that the school has been evaluated by a third-party education agency based on the quality of its programs, faculty, and student services. Johns Hopkins University is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.

JHU is best known as the country's first research institution, with much of its efforts going into the field of public health. According to College Scorecard data, graduates of this program can expect to earn a median annual salaries of $131,000. The next highest earning degrees are in biotechnology, with an expected salary of $110,200. JHU offers two online degrees in this field: Master of Arts in History of Medicine and Master of Science in Applied Health Sciences Informatics.
