I am a student at GCU earning my Masters of Science in Psychology. Grand Canyon University has been a wonderful experience for me, the staff have been great, I have wonderful counselors, and been provided with plenty of resources to bring me success for... Read More my graduate program. From transitioning from undergrad to grad school, its everything I expected it to be. It is challenging, you need to have time management skills, devoted time to coursework, participate!!, and keep up with the work. I have heard so many people complain about Grand Canyon University, it is understandable if money is a factor to the problem. But, in my experience finance is not an issue and I have no complaints about how the online graduate program is structured and taught. Do not apply if you don't have the work ethic, the time management skills, research skills, and digital experience. I always believed that graduate education is independent, if you lack the skills to work and study independently, higher education may not be for you. It's annoying to hear people complain about GCU not being lenient with grading, or that the workload is too much. If you are trying to earn a Graduate degree, buckle up, it takes a lot to be a graduate student but only so many will complete it and walk across the stage. I am grateful that GCU took me in, and I have been giving my all to be successful in my courses. Shout out to my counselors who have been so useful and supportive of my journey.
I enrolled in Grand Canyon Universities Online graduate program for the Masters in Education, Secondary Education degree. I was able to double up on classes and finish the program earlier than most. My grade point average was 3.84 (GCU uses the 4.000... Read More grading scale). Each course was 4 to 6 weeks long and had requirements for field work. Overall, my counselors and the staff of GCU always had open lines of communication, the grading was rigorous but it enhanced the academic experience by expecting more from its students, and its cost of tuition and enrollment was fair compared to other institutions. If you are looking for a good and accredited graduate degree you should definitely consider Grand Canyon University.
I am currently in my last BSN course at GCU and I have not had one problem with tuition, customer service, grading times, instructor responsiveness, etc. I don't particularly like online group assignments or spreading out response posts throughout the... Read More week but that's to be expected with an online learning platform. I've been unclear instructions about assignments and instructors usually get back to me within a few hours, grades are in no longer than a week after the assignment is due and my counsellors have all been super responsive and helpful. I just saw a lot of bad reviews on here and I don't quite understand why people are having different experiences than me but I felt the need to share mine. I honestly wish GCU offered a Psych NP program so I could just stay with them.
