FAQs About ECPI University Online

Does ECPI University Have 100% Online Degrees?

ECPI has 100% online degrees at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Popular online bachelor's degrees include cybersecurity, healthcare administration, and mechanical engineering technology. Programs are accelerated, so you can earn an online bachelor's degree in less than three years or an online associate degree in less than two if you attend full time. Courses include simulations, virtual labs, and weekly synchronous (live) instruction.

Is ECPI University Considered a Real University or Community College?

According to the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), ECPI is considered a four-year institution (a "real" university) that also offers two-year degrees. However, it is not a community college due to its private, for-profit status.

ECPI is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award associate, baccalaureate, master's and doctorate degrees, and certificates. This accreditation status means that ECPI is a legitimate school that can prove its financial practices are ethical and its academic programs are high quality. It also means that students can transfer credits from one accredited institution to another.

OnlineU only includes accredited online institutions on its site.

Is a Degree From ECPI University Worth It?

A degree from ECPI may be worth it if the experience meets your expectations and you get the education you need to succeed and meet your professional goals. Its online programs in several in-demand fields provide convenience and scheduling flexibility, especially if you balance multiple obligations. You may also be able to graduate faster than your peers at other colleges and universities.

However, it's important to note that ECPI has relatively low Salary Scores. OnlineU's proprietary Salary Score ranks colleges by how much their alumni earn compared to graduates with the same degree from across the country. For example, ECPI has a salary score of only 26 (out of 100) for its bachelor's degrees and 16 for its master's. If you have high salary expectations and plan on incurring some student debt, attending ECPI may not be worth it, depending on your major.

What Is ECPI University Known For?

ECPI is known for its forward-thinking approach to education based on market needs. Founded in 1966, it was one of the first schools to offer computer programming classes as demand began to grow. Over the years, ECPI's curriculum has expanded to include degrees in engineering technology, health science, nursing, business, and criminal justice at the undergraduate and graduate levels. It now operates satellite campuses in North and South Carolina, Florida, and Texas, as well as at its original Virginia Beach site.

Which Degrees at ECPI University Provide the Highest Earnings for Graduates?

ECPI's online bachelor's degrees in nursing and computer technology, such as computer programming and engineering, provide the highest earnings. Graduates earn annual median salaries of approximately $73,300, $60,200, and $58,400, respectively.

What Are the Admission Requirements for ECPI University?

ECPI's admission requirements are unclear on its website. You must first call to schedule an admission advising appointment to start applying to college. However, ECPI does not require entrance exams, which may be very appealing to some applicants.
