DeVry University

A lot of these reviews is not something I can relate to. I am currently enrolled in Devry and taking the certification classes for medical billing and coding. I have only a few months left, so I have been through the most of the courses already. At the very beginning, I was assigned a "Student Support Advisor" and he has been my only advisor since day 1. I have seen some reviews saying they change your advisor every few months but that has not been the case for me. My advisor emails and calls me... Read More every time I have finished a 8 week course to catch up and see how I am doing. Personally, I work well doing online courses as it allows me to focus on my own. I work full time as a manager at a bakery and I still have the time to finish all of my school work on time. Here is one thing that bothered me when I was reading some of the reviews.... a lot of people are frustrated that this school prides themselves on "working at your own pace" but they are frustrated and eventually get kicked out for not doing their homework. Let me make this VERY clear. I WORK FULL TIME PLUS OVERTIME AND I STILL HAVE MORE THAN ENOUGH TIME TO DO MY SCHOOL WORK ON TIME. Ontop of that, recently my mother has fallen ill and I had to move back in with her to help take care of her. I STILL WORK FULL TIME, WITH OVERTIME, TAKE CARE OF MY SICK MOTHER, AND FINISH ALL OF MY SCHOOL WORK IN TIME. I have a weighted GPA of 4.50 which is very good. If you cannot schedule YOUR time better, then that is NOT Devry's problem.. THAT IS YOUR PROBLEM. I have requested tutors from Devry and within 24 hours I was always given one. They have always been extremely helpful to me. I have NEVER felt belittled or angry or upset by any of my professors, tutors, or staff members. Yes this program is not the cheapest route to go but come on... does anybody really think taking any form of college level schooling is cheap? I am enrolled in student aid and have 1 grant. With this, I pay anywhere between $100-$400 a month. Sometimes it is $0 because the financial aid covers it. The tuition has been $1,600 once a year. This is NOT terrible pricing. When you compare their pricing to other colleges you will see that this is one of the best prices there are. I WOULD ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND GOING TO DEVRY IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN MEDICAL BILLING AND CODING. IF YOU CANNOT SCHEDULE YOUR OWN TIME AND FORCE YOURSELF TO BE DICIPLINED THEN DONT EVEN BOTHER TAKING ANY ONLINE CLASSES FROM ANY SCHOOL.

So. Figured I put my 2 cents in. Graduated in 2011. 100k debt and climbing (about +600$ every 3 months - beyond loan repayment has been on hold since covid). I see no light ahead on how to manage this debt as I still don't make enough. ... and yes I am very dedicated. What a waste of time & money. I was stuck in a warehouse for years after graduating. It is 2023 and still not in the field I graduated in. Note: I was apart of that huge law suit for being provided the false promise of getting aligned... Read More in the field we graduate in. I did get a settlement. 12$. Yep that's helpful to my school loan debt. What a joke. The experience for me at DeVry was no good and will not be recommending DeVry to my children. The materials they taught me, no good. The challenges this program provided me, well there was none. When looking for employment I have been turned down by many opportunities. 99% of the positions I applied for never even contacted me. If I were to guess, its most likely because they noticed I graduated at DeVry. In my next life I would chose no college over going to DeVry.

Hi, I’m currently pursing my Business Essentials Certificate at DeVry University in Naperville, IL and today I just received notice that I’m on the Dean’s List for Fall 2022. I really am grateful for how encouraging my professors have been and they really want to help you you achieve your highest and best. What motivates me is for the girls or boys who have been told “oh you’ll never do that” or don’t have that much of a support system, I’m very very grateful for the support system I have my advice... Read More is focus on those who are your support system and for those who aren’t your support system stick them to the mud if they don’t see you for who you are they are very misfortunate for when you succeed they’ll fail and beg for forgiveness. For the people with bad reviews sometimes bad criticism is the best criticism for colleges and businesses as a whole to learn from so when you think you’re hurting a business you might but in the long run you’re encouraging and helping the business or college to critique the rules. Just think what motivates you or makes you so angry just enough to push you to the limit so you succeed but also have a little fun.

My advisor is inadequate and incompetent to guide me through the educational situation, I have not spoken or heard from that guy so I just refuse to contact him. whom ever he is surely is not tracking my education and should be the first to compliment and give supporting advice on staying on Deans list because of him I believe I waisted a lot of my time with this school doing subjects I have done already and regret being present for this journey.
