I am very proud to be an Environmental Engineering alumni from Wilkes University. The education is very hands on and personal. The professors are all incredibly intelligent and kind individuals who are well respected in their field. They are all almost professional licensed PE’s which is unique and special. Clinical placement was promised by admissions advisor-that is the only reason I decided to attend Wilkes. With GPA of 4.0 in my masters and doctorate degrees I could have gone anywhere. Complementary Clinical placement is also advertised on the university website. I completed 2 courses in the summer 2023 and Clinical placement was not secured for me by the Clinical placement team as was falsely promised. There was no effort at all to place me. Program coordinator and Clinical placement team were... Read More dismissive when I started voicing my concerns as it became obvious that I would not have Clinical placement for the coming semester. I dropped out of the program and the university refused to refund tuition. The classes I completed are not transferable to a different school of my choice. I'm writing this to caution prospective nurse practitioner students- beware, Wilkes university Will Not find a Clinical site for you. They of course will promise to do so to get you in the door and collect your money. The University needs to take "Complementary Clinical Placement " off their website and make sure their admissions staff do not mislead prospective students.

Wilkes University is a wonderful school to attend if you have hopes of becoming a special education teacher or general education teacher. Their education courses are set up to prepare you for real life application of the skills taught. You will progress through classes that require field work, observations, and classroom experience to help you prepare for teaching. You are given mentors, coaches, and support systems as you enter your student teaching requirements. You must take and pass all of the... Read More Pennsylvania teaching certification classes before taking 300-level classes and you must sustain a 3.0 GPA during all 200 and 300 level courses. There are tutors and advisers available to help you at any time if needed. Campus is filled with many resources and a high-tech research center.

The MBA program is a very strong "part time" program, although pricing is high and the curse offerings are somewhat limited. Overall the professors are extremely helpful, and well qualified, almost all from strong regional US universities. (Ohio, Buffalo, Rutgers or top tier international universities such as the Indian Institute of technology). Strong aspects of the program include: opportunities for research, with many of the professors seeking tenure. A strong entrepreneurial program, modeled... Read More on Babson, with at least one professor having taught there. As the MBA choices are sometimes a bit limited there is flexibility to take and transfer 6 credits with other universities (Scranton, Harvard, Penn State etc...). Finally there are a lot of international students, expect to have students from India, China, Saudi, Nigeria, the Caribbean, Russia, and Morocco in your class. This unusually wide cultural mix has many advantages in terms of international networking and cultural exposure. If you want one on one teaching from a professor, the opportunity to publish your research, the flexibility to build your own MBA, study part-time whilst working full time and the opportunity to have a future AACSB certification (Wilkes is in process of certification) then Wilkes is a strong contender. The Wilkes MBA program is essentially what you want it to be, it can be a comparatively easy program and you can coast through as acceptance rates are high and through careful selection of courses such as 3 credits for the study abroad you can have a reasonable workload. Or it can be a stretch program with 6 credits transferred from other more established programs, international research with outstanding faculty, the opportunity to complete the MBA (39 credits) in a year and striving to graduate with a perfect 4.0 (Less than 10% of the MBA class). The weakest aspect of the program is the lack of internship and job placement opportunities, internships are geared to the under graduates as the assumption of the MBA program is that you are studying part-time. With that one caveat, Wilkes is a 4.5 out of 5.

I started going to Wilkes University, the Mesa Campus, because it was a really good school, great scholarship programs, great price and small classrooms. It was really nice and loved it, until in between my first semester there we were all told this campus was closing and the school was going online. I am a victim of bait and switch and if I were to move schools, I would loose all those scholarships that are allowing me to keep going to school to begin with . My school will now be all online and... Read More I loose the small class ambiance that allowed great networking , so I am quite upset. Do not go to this school. As a business major, networking is the most important thing and doing the degree online will ruin that, but I am in the middle of the degree and do not want to change as some classes might not transfer and I don't have the funds to replace those classes and it would lengthen my degree. As for my degree, I am in an accelerated program and I love that, because in a year and a half I can get my bachelors and I am one semester in there already, so one more year. I will be going to my masters directly, so I hope to have my master in 3 years total, if all goes accordingly.
