Wake Forest University

In terms of academics, Wake Forest was amazing. My professors were intelligent, engaging, and available when needed. I loved my classes and the small student to teacher ratio made me feel seen and my contributions valued. In terms of social experience, just know that unless you are white, wealthy (or aspiring to be so), and participate in Greek life, you will have a hard time fitting in and finding your group. Academics: Wake Forest fully prepares its students to excel in their future endeavors, whether it be in graduate school or into a career. Wake has one of the top Study Abroad programs in the country, and 80% of students take advantage of studying abroad. Wake students become very well rounded and gain a global perspective. You will graduate with an elite education at Wake. Social: Although Wake has a small school feel in the classroom, students proudly display their big school spirit. Wake is among the top universities for all major sports, and students actively attend games. There is also a lively greek scene as well. Campus: Beyond beautiful. You feel as if you stepped into a resort. Plenty of open green space, gardens, variety of trees, beautiful architecture. Wake Forest has been named in many "most beautiful campus" rankings. Dorms are modern and dining hall food is rated highly by students. Wake Forest is also about 10 minutes from downtown Winston Salem. Plenty of cafes, restaurants and an arts district. Alumni: Strong national alumni network ensures students ample opportunties and support post graduation. Wake alumni are tight knit and look out for each other. Overall: Wake is a top tier university, and although a Top 30 school, its quite frankly very underrated.

The community at Wake Forest University feels more like a family than an actual University. Professors are very invested in their students and take the time to meet with students outside of class for office hours. In addition to help in office hours, it is common to grab lunch with a professor outside of class, or even be invited to their house for a home cooked meal. Wake Forest University undergrad is a diverse and very intelligent group of students with many different interests and talents. When walking on campus to classes, you can expect to see people you are acquainted with as well as many new faces everyday. Wake Forest University is located about 10 minutes outside downtown Winston-Salem, NC which is a medium sized city. There is a satellite campus located right downtown that is specific to some classes with buses to take you to and from your classes downtown if you choose to take classes there. Due to the intense nature of the academics at Wake Forest Univ, you will find that most of your time will be spent studying. Even though the classes are hard, you will find that most students are encouraged to hold campus jobs, join different clubs and greek life, and become local volunteers. Overall, you will find that Wake will take what you are good at and make you GREAT. They provide endless opportunities for students and graduates who show that they work hard, are well rounded and have the potential to "make it" in the real world.

Wake Forest University is a world-class university. The student to faculty ratio is small giving students a high-level of access to their professors. The ease of access experienced by students at Wake Forest opens the doors to a lot of opportunity for them to be involved in research that will create a more robust education and assist them in finding a professional career that is a good fit. Student life concentrates on volunteerism and community service. It gives students a better understanding of the world in which we live and how they can use their talents to make it a better place for those less fortunate. I strongly recommend looking into the programs offered by Wake Forest if you have an interest in using your education and knowledge as a way to contribute to society at large.

The MA program in Communication at Wake Forest is an excellent program for those wishing to go on to a doctoral program (as I am) or go into the work force (which I did directly out of school). The program is intense and well-rounded, with lots of access to world-class, tenured faculty. The online Masters of counseling program at Wake Forest University is unlike any other! I am a very recent graduate of Wake Forest University and cannot recommend this school to degree seekers enough. It honestly was the best four years of my life, as they say.
