DO NOT use this school if you are planning to work online. Let me start with the courses and teachers for about the first year were wonderful. They were extremely helpful and seemed to actually care. I'm currently coming up onto my third year at the college and all three years I have had the worst experiences with the financial department. Noone in this department knows anything about what is going on and feeds you with a script. I was told to fill something out on the IRS website and when I asked... Read More where do I find that on the site I was told to use the search bar. I did. Couldn't find what they wanted. But let's put that aside and talk about the teachers that I've had over the past two years. Some teachers are wonderful and give you feedback through the week but others wait until the weekend to grade anything leaving you to have to to wait to write anything in the future so you have some wort of feedback. Oh, the best part is when I asked my current teacher for my Corrections class if she could clarify what she was expecting in a paper and she told me to go read my chapters. I did, yet when I ask the teacher for clarification she doesn't even have the time to teach. What the hell am I paying for? Oh, right, the material to teach myself.

Online college is what you make of it. If you do all the reading and research for that week you will do well and yes you have to do eight participation each weeks and their is papers to write every week. Taking these courses made think out side the box. I spent a lot of hours reading other websites. The classes helps you to do research and dont like to read you are not in the right place. Each week there is good feed back to improve. I have twelve more class to get before I finish. I am thinking to get my masters next. The best part I can do my work when I want to. It could be 2am or a couple of hours each night. I dont have drive some where and deal with parking, traffic, and people that go to college to socialize and make fun of people. I work better in the comfort of my home, I can take breaks when I want and eat at my desk. The best of all no distractions. I am going to college to make friends, but to get my degree. I have friends at work, church and at the gym and does not cost me money to be with my friends. I am happy with college. There are no hand outs you have to work and if you dont, your grade reflexs that and it is you that has to pay the money back.

As a previous graduate of the University of Phoenix's bachelors of science in criminal justice/administration, I can assure everyone interested in attending this university that it is well worth it. The University of Phoenix is an amazing school to attend if you have a busy life. What I liked the most about this school is that I felt like I was still able to get stuff done at work and at home without stressing myself out to much. I attended the U of P from 2015 through Feb of 2017. My experiences with the instructors and students was diverse and interesting. In the beginning I did not like the team assignments but found that by the time I was in my senior year, I preferred the team assignments over the personal assignments. I work in prisons and can honestly say that I have used my BS in Organizational Security and Management quite frequently. U of P is one of the costlier schools. I have read many negative reviews about the school but cannot say I saw any of what they are saying.

This college is all about what you, as the student, put into it. The UOP offers a lot of resources for their students, but some people are naturally not self motivated. You will have to earn your grade. The degree is worth just as much as any other accredited university. They make it painfully slow, just like any other college. Don't sign up for online classes if you have poor time management skills. My academic advisor is fantastic, but my financial advisor is terrible. I am halfway done. My employer... The online classes totally fit my lifestyle, because I work full time and have kids who are active in sports. Work on your school work for at least 30 min each day.

I would advise anyone considering attending UoPx to really consider if they are willing to dedicate the time that it takes to excel in your classes. I am enjoying my time at UoPx and I graduated this past May with my Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice and minor in Cyber crimes. My academic advisors are usually the absolute best. The staff are very friendly as care about you as a person and a student. They provide timely feedback on assignments as well. The only negative about UoPx is the learning teams. In the beginning, the learning teams were horrible but as I moved into my core curriculum where people were serious about their education, I thoroughly enjoyed working with my teams. I would rate UoPx a 4.7/5 stars on professionalism.

I am fortunate that I am able to use my degree and it will eventually pay for itself however I walked away with almost a 40k loan had I done my research accordingly, I would have gone to another school and paid a fraction of the price. I would say that I had a number of different advisers and they weren't always on the same page specifically the finance department. On a positive side of things, I never had a negative experience with any of the professors, and if there was a miscommunication or misunderstanding, they always made it a point to respond or act on the matter promptly. Though I wasn't a fan of group projects, I had very little to no issues with teammates. I would say that having teachers that are working professionals is even better because they make it a point to share personal experiences.When I relocated, they made it a point to accommodate to online courses since I wasn't moving near a campus. Overall, The only negative experience/ comment is the finance department.

I am about to graduate from UOP, and I have nothing but good things to say about my experience. I find it troubling that many reviews state that they did not get any help from their instructors. We have to first understand that the instructors of online classes also have other careers that they have to put their effort into, and they still find the time to help each student when they are needed. The adviser do change, but each one that I had was prompt on keeping in contact with me or sending me emails to ask how I am doing or do I have any questions.If anyone feels as if they did not get the same results I did, the problem may not be the school, it may be you. Graduation was beautiful. We graduated at the Liacouras Center with a packed audience of friends, family and faculty as well as a full class of graduates.The speakers who attended were successful CEO's and Doctors who graduated from University of Phoenix. As far as people bashing the school for not receiving disbursements, it was probably for not passing a class and their disbursement covering the balance or not having enough financial aid to cover the total amount of classes. Whatever the case, they will never keep your disbursements if you have met all requirements. University of Phoenix offers a variety of volunteer opportunities while still in school and internships the closer you get to your capstone. Our instructors were current and active police lieutenants, family court judges, parole officers and prosecutors that you could walk into a courtroom and see live and in living color. Since graduating I have been putting my resume out there in my field and offered over 5 positions in the last 3 months. I am currently a supervisor and working in the exact position I dreamed of. I have started a Nonprofit where I have built strong relationships with CEO's and community leaders who offered all kinds of supportive services. Recently I enrolled in the MBA program to strengthen my skills in being a business owner and cut out the middle man. Not only will I be able to sit down at a round table and talk the talk but I can also make money providing services to start-up business owners young and old in a world where entrepreneurs start as young as 12 years old. People should stop focusing on becoming someone else's top employee and strive harder to be CEO's themselves! Either way I haven't come across an employer yet (even in the Criminal Justice field) who has turned down my resume because of UOP. They even come to the campus for job fairs.
