My experience at the University of Massachusetts - Dartmouth was transformative, specifically because of the interdisciplinary strength of the Charlton College of Business and the College of Engineering. Dual-focusing on Accounting and Computer Science at UMassD gave me a competitive edge that is hard to find elsewhere.
The Academic Experience:
The Accounting faculty are industry veterans who don't just teach from a textbook; they bring real-world tax and audit scenarios into the classroom. Simultaneously,... Read More

UMass Dartmouth is an outlier in the MFA world. It has a small program where all MFA candidates, regardless of medium/focus, are regularly interacting with each other and studying together. The program is also comparatively affordable to nearby MFA programs, while offering more direct, 1-on-1 interactions with professors. The university as a whole has many decorated scholars of other fields that MFA students often work with when developing their theses.

University of Massachusetts Dartmouth had a great program that you can do online. The benefit is that it gives you a degree that still counts as if it was in person even though I did it online. This may have had to do with the COVID policy at the time but it worked out well for me. In terms of classes they were high quality lessons and good professors.

Nice school but beware of housing. It’s abysmal. Grad housing when we were moving in was dirty, with feces, garbage and insects. Housing was aware and were unresponsive. Beware. They did nothing to rectify it and are not interested in grad students …

UMass Dartmouth isn't a terrible university in the campus aspect (environment is nice). The faculty members guiding students needs work. I graduated as a dual major from computer / electrical engineering but there were alot of times where I needed to fight to graduate with both degrees and not because I had bad grades it was because the advising and mentoring was all screwed up. Outside of classes, student affairs and other facilities are poor. This school offers scholarships that was heavily in... Read More

Where do I start…I’m a senior at umass but failed my last test with a 74, needed a 77. The only test in the course. I asked for a retake, denied. I asked to be allowed to retake the whole course, had to put in an appeal. I’m waiting for the answer, I’ll get it if there r spots open. 4 years, passed everything but one test= no degree. Unreasonable and unwilling to help with a solution except write me letters of recommendation.

This school has zero communication. I am an older student who decided to go back to college. This will be third college I have attended and it’s also one of the worst. It doesn’t matter how many times you call or email someone from any department, you will be lucky to receive a response. Most things are time sensitive, so it really screws you over. Professors have leeway to call a number grade any letter grade they see fit, and there is no recourse because apparently this is okay and is allowed.... Read More

This is a totally inadequate program. I wanted to become a History teacher but because that is a saturated market I was encouraged to get a Special Education add-on license. It has been the worst experience of my life and I wish I had never heard of this program or its head, Traci Almeida. I learned to write a basic IEP, which is of little value because they are different at every district and state and a lesson plan. What I didn't learn was concrete proven methods for helping students with disabilities... Read More

The Graphic Design program at Umass Dartmouth was wonderful. The professor were extremely engaging, knowledgeable, and truly cared about their students. The courses were both rewarding and challenging. Additionally, the price is affordable as far as higher education goes. The campus can be somewhat depressing looking and the location isn't amazing, but I was able to make quite a few friends within my program. There was always something going on, on campus, which was also nice. Overall, if you're... Read More

An outstanding faculty for a fraction of the price of neighboring art programs- PLUS, you can never undersell the importance of a university. Making connections with classmates from a variety of backgrounds in a variety of fields and programs is integral to learning to function and make connections in the real world.

The campus took a while to grow accustom to and can be a little abrasive at first. The ascetic grows on you over the years and by the end you'll find it looking very beautiful with all its fields and contrasting concrete buildings. The professors were run of the mill and left a little bit to be desired. Over all my experience was a positive one with plenty of people to make it feel like you are not just at some small commuter college. Making it very easy to make friends and connections.

This school is pretty horrible. Upon entering it looks like a prison. Very dark cloud hanging over the school on most days. I had to take a medical leave and they still charged me for the semester. Someone had taken my student ID and used my meal plan while I was on leave and they say its my fault and have to pay. I am white. I was uncomfortable witnessing some of these disgusting displays of students. On more than one occasion saw a car driving around the look playing what sounded like Civil war... Read More

The small classrooms were an excellent learning environment. Cost was very affordable. The staff and faculty were very helpful and there were many opportunities for research. Professors were very involved in helping students reach their research goals as well as help the students prepare for graduate school or career opportunities. The campus was a very friendly environment and very accepting.

The university always did it's best to accommodate all students especially with clinical rotations. If you hd a certain interest in something they did their best to help you get that experience. I was in the online M.S. in Healthcare Management program. It was a great experience - very flexible, good professors, interesting classes - especially the ones taught by Professor F. It's an especially good program if you're interested in cost management and quality improvement. I'd highly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn more about these areas without having to go to a classroom.

UMass Dartmouth is an excellent school for people seeking technical and engineering degrees in the southeast Massachusetts area. You don't need to go to Boston or Worcester to find professors with decades of experience, and complete projects that provide worthwhile experience. Oh, and you'll also meet people from all over the world and enjoy fun clubs and on-campus activities.

The MLS program at UMD greatly prepares and educates potential hospital lab employees. Because of the didactic instruction, many graduates pursue advanced degrees with the knowledge they've obtained through their undergraduate career. The science background obtained from this degree will help any future scientist or medical professional by providing a concrete understanding of the pathophysiology of the human body and current testing methods used to treat and diagnose various disease states.
