University of Maryland Global Campus

I've been to several colleges and most of the professors were more qualified. The professors at this institution believe they’re entitled to treat others in any shape or form if they don't see or write from their perspective. I will no longer attend this school or recommend anyone else to attend. I was recommended to this school because I was told "ITS MILITARY FRIENDLY." Well, that turned out to be a lie. Communication and feedback is a big issue at UMUC. Some people will help you to the best of their abilities when you call and others will rush you off the phone with promises to "send you an email regarding your issue" and never will. While deployed in 2017 I took 3 classes from a different college. In 2019, I was accepted to UMUC, and I transferred those credits and all 9 credits were accepted. I recently switched majors due to personal reasons, and that's when everything went downhill! For some... Read More reason, 1 of the 3 previously accepted class credits disappeared from my AAR leaving me with only 6. When I notified UMUC they acted as if I NEVER had the credit transferred and accepted for the class in the first place, and suggested I RESEND my transcripts to receive credit. However, ALL 3 classes were on the SAME transcript. Due to their error while changing my major, I had to contact my previous school AGAIN and receive a new transcript. Once UMUC received the transcript and reviewed it, they never even notified me. I had to call them to find out it was received 7 days prior and that the investigation was still pending. I refuse to retake a class and spend money I don't have, when I already received credit for this course. Until now, my experience with UMUC has always been positive. I hope they resolve this matter promptly and accurately because if not, I will transfer somewhere else.

Although it has been over two decades and prior to the online school craze, the University of Maryland University College set the foundation for where I am today. I started on Campus at College Park but in 8 years of duty in Europe, this program allowed me to complete my undergraduate degree setting the stage for graduate school. Having a wonderful range of professors, especially foreign professors, gave me a wealth of insight into the classes I was taking. Having a Russian professor teach a seminar... Read More on Russian history, having President Regan's former National Security advisor teach a class on Terrorism, and a history professor who lived in Israel during the 70's Arab Israeli conflict made the classes far more interesting. This degree was sustainable once I left the military giving me the academic foundation to successfully complete graduate school at the University of Oklahoma and to also gain a Graduate Certificate at the Saint Joseph's University. If I had any complaint it is the fact that getting transcripts after graduation is a little tedious and the University of Maryland at College Park has no records of students who attended the University College division.

This comes is bittersweet for sure as I transferred from another college specifically to attend UMUC And the criminal justice program. Youre kind of justice program I would rank 10 out of 10 instructors were incredible I learned so much the only missing part is lack of experience in the field without any virtual and/or online training. Read More as a state license and specific vocational training and it clearly on the website states that college credit can be earned and specific for the license and or vocational program that I attended. In addition to, I was approved and registered at another university to complete my math requirement and one elective the process should have been quite simple to transfer those credits via electronic submission however the registrars office constantly had one issue after another with trying to get those transcripts. Several different people have reached out to me Regarding academics advising financing Registar which is completely entangled this whole process. This should not be that difficult. Here we are two weeks before graduation and I still do not have any answers taking finals and pushing through to complete my classes has been a Normas amount of stress created by UMUC. It is my hopes that they review our reviews and take stranded notes so that they can improve upon their systems. I cant of the emails this morning that have transpired since the beginning of November I have 116 really?

I'm getting super frustrated. I called this summer about starting full time - on line - in the fall. The person in admissions told me if I took a summer class I would qualify for a "fall term scholarship." So I took that class, paid a few hundred dollars. Now they want me to sign up for my fall classes. I'm asking about this scholarship and nobody knows anything! I've called, been placed on hold, transferred (5 times). Was it just some sales ploy to get me to take a class in the summer?

As a first generation college student and first generation military member it was important for me to choose my futures possibilities with great scrutiny. Being a member of the Armed Forces taught me a lot about dealing with adversity and change and to challenge myself physically; being a student with UMUC taught me to challenge myself intellectually and emotionally; it gave me the ability to implement sound time management principles and the ability to persevere when I had to use the other tools... UMUC was with me in every country I went to, on every deployment I was sent to, and their advisors really cared about me as a person and were willing to help me even when I didn't know what I wanted help with. To that end, and with zero hesitation, I would highly recommend University of Maryland University College to anyone whose not so ordinary lifestyle demands special needs, needs that can be met by a special University.

The Staff need to take their own Effective Communication course! I am a new student and I have been trying to enroll since Dec but missed Spring enrollment because of poor communications. I kept sending my requirements but no one is updating my file. And yet, the staff kept on sending me standard generated emails instead, asking for documents that are not applicable...i.e. Tuition Assistance (I have an approved Post GI Bill?), Re-enlistment (I sent a DD 214 for my retirement already?), residency...
