I enrolled at UMGC back in late 2019. The process was simple requiring minimal effort. I chose UMGC due to their tuition being affordable and having an office at my military installation. TA and the Pell Grant covered all of my tuition costs. I now have my Bachelors without using the GI Bill which is amazing. UMGC grants transfer credits from military school transcripts which allowed me to start off with 25 credits earned without ever taking any classes. The first 4 classes I took at UMGC were hybrid... All of the negative reviews on this website are confusing to say the least. I attended UMGC and graduated with a BS in Business Administration. The professors were mostly very helpful, but honestly I didn't even need to contact them about most things. I liked that the classes were only 8 weeks because it allows you to be able to move along in your program quickly. Everything that I needed from start to finish was found online, so I very seldom had to contact my professors or advisors. The academic... Read More

I have been going to UMGC for a few years now. I graduate in a couple of months. I have also attended a community college back home for a couple of years. Instructors are a hit and miss. There are teachers with PHDs and masters from very reputable universities and others right from UMGC. I have had good ones and bad ones but more good than bad. Assignments vary like the instructors, some are helpful and others not so much. I do not like the quizzes and exams from UMUC as it becomes ridiculous ciphering... Read More

I was very pleased with the University of Maryland University College as an undergraduate student. I completed my degree online. I loved the flexibility of when and where I could access my courses. I was also appreciative of being able to access faculty most often, when I needed to. The program can take as long or as little as you need it to take, it's completely self paced. I loved the digital platform. It was not hard to understand or utilize. I did, however, struggle with using the research databases.... Read More

Overall I liked the program when I first began however since the school went away from textbooks and started with "online videos and journals.. articles etc" the experience went down hill very fast. I think some professors are understanding of people's situations that they have families and jobs however some professors could care less and are very harsh at grading as well as provide very little substance and feedback on assignments. I am happy I am done ... time to get my MBA from a better school... Read More

I've taken classes with a State University (2 years) and an online school (1 year). I can say that UMUC is better than both. The other online school was simply a degree mill that handed out As without even having to study the material. I felt compelled to transfer because I knew employers would eventually understand this and I actually wanted to learn the subjects that I was paying for. UMUC has an alumni filled with veterans that live throughout the US, so having a degree from this school will undoubtedly... Read More

If this is your last option, for my military personnel, for a degree program that is covered by TA, then all means go for it. However, please ensure you take time to consider your goals, post-military and post-graduate, to ensure that the degree program you choose is accredited for what you intend to do and will satisfy post-military employment or commissioning requirements. I will say that I enjoyed the online part of this school and I had a great time at graduation, the campus is really nice. I... Read More

I signed up for several courses with UMUC while stationed in Okinawa. I was in one particular course and the instructor was telling an adult learner a story during the break about how he knew of a math teacher who had a bunch of soldiers in her math class, some of whom were not doing so well academically. The professor remarked, "I told her, just give soldiers a passing grade. I mean, they're in the military, what harm can they do with a bachelors degree?" I found this remark pretty offensive, plus... Worst online school ever. LEO is unorganized and crashes frequently. The financial aid office has to be called numerous times for you to remind them to do their job. Money making school only that's what they care about it ! UMUC. Stay away from this school!!!

I find this school to be very good. Business courses are very good, especially the project management courses. Instructors are pretty good for the most part. The occasional bad one here and there but that is to be expected. Being that I have been to both a traditional brick and mortar school and now online college there is a difference in the education. I enjoyed sitting in a classroom and having an instructor right there to ask questions too, but I also like the convenience of online courses. The... Read More

UMUC provided a convenient, high impact learning environment for me. The online courses combined with the compressed schedule aloud me to complete my degree on time. I love this college. I plan on completing my Masters there as well. This college is excellent for busy people. They care about your education.
