Overall I think the program (so far as I can tell) is great--particularly as it pertains to academics. I think the school falls short regarding cultural diversity and career development. The student (and faculty) population seems predominantly white--although, admittedly there are more diverse faculty/staff than I anticipated. However, the school attracts a very homogeneous student population -- middle to upper class white people. I recognize, however, that its new dean, an international law scholar,... Read More

Most affordable, high-quality legal education you can get!! The UGA alumni network is incredibly accessible, helpful, and the school's name carries you far in Georgia. Outside of the state it's a little tougher, but overall this is the best bargain you can get for a degree without skimping on the quality of your education!

Awesome law school with fantastic professors. However if you don't want to do Big Law then career services does not help you at all. Good thing the Georgia name has a great reputation in the South. That alone can help you get your foot in the door.

University of Georgia is a premier Law School in the South, and both employers and other professionals recognize this. The Alumni network is strong and influential (dozens of former governors and lawmakers, etc.). There are both established and up and coming scholars on faculty, but they are incredibly approachable. Athens is a great town, and your fellow Law Dawgs provide great camaraderie. Oh, and there's the football. Cons, it's a little far from Atlanta, which is where 90% of our jobs are. But... Read More

Friendly faculty and student body. Lots of things to do in Athens. Tough job market for law students makes finding a job difficult.

Athens is a fantastic town, but there are some dangerous areas once you get away from the University/Downtown. Also, there are many cheap-ish places to live, but finding somewhere to live that feels safe can be expensive.

For the money, I just can't see getting a better education. The faculty and education itself are wonderful and the alumni network is very loyal and well respected.

As with every law program, the market is suffering. While UGA is a great name to have on a law degree, I would probably would forego the J.D. if given another chance.

Law School is a sketchy investment at the moment, but UGA keeps it fairly affordable and provides a high quality education.
