If you enjoy thinking about social work, learning clinical skills, or otherwise just quality education then avoid coming to DU for your MSW. It's dramatically overpriced and the "value" of this education isn't even close to as much as you pay to go here. Go to a state school. If you apply and don't get into one on your first cycle...apply again. DO NOT GET AN MSW AT A PRIVATE SCHOOL. Especially not DU...they are looking to indoctrinate you into their way of thinking about social work. Any deviation... Read More is not accepted. Avoid at all costs.

The Graduate School of Social Work at the University of Denver is an absolute great program and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a master's program in the Denver/Metro area. This scholarship would help me immensely because of the current debt I have. The University of Denver does have its' pros and cons however the workload is manageable and the professors are willing to meet with you any time you need. I love DU! There is not a day that I regret choosing to attend the Graduate School of Social Work. My professors are passionate about the subjects they teach and inspire enthusiasm in us to take the information we learn into the world with us. Taking into consideration a good size scholarship I received, I am still in debt about $60,000 after one year of loans for tuition and living expenses. But I am positive that the quality of the education that I am receiving matches the cost. DU's Graduate School... Professors at DU are always willing and available to provide additional support and feedback to students. They make this experience incredible. Also, the surrounding area is beautiful - who wouldn't want to live in sunny Denver, CO? Cost of living is a little bit higher here than other areas, and, while financial aid is awarded, school-related expenses are also a bit overwhelming. GSSW is a comprehensive program that does care a lot about their students. Unfortunately there is not a diverse student population, and class sizes are a bit bigger then would be expected for a grad program. Faculty support is excellent, and anything you want to get involved with can be accomplished with a bit of work. Many great internship placement sites, and a supportive field team to get you into a placement that works for you. Grades are inflated, but I believe that is how many graduate programs...
