I couldn’t be more impressed with DU’s commitment to outstanding student outreach and my instructors, who have been professionals in relevant fields and knowledgeable, guiding teachers. Not only does graduate school offer me a sense of purpose and future, but it lends itself to a new chapter in my story; one which I didn’t anticipate reading. I am so happy to have the experience working in sales management at ServiceSource and taking the time to be in a professional setting before going back to school... Read More for an advanced degree. The program I am in now is practical, thus preparing me to be a successful employee and leader down the road. I think about how far I have come from a ‘dreamy’ student, reading and thinking as an undergraduate to talking brass tax, fundamentals and non-profit economics in my program at DU. I see myself now as an academic grown-up; a wonderful thing.

If you don't want to spend your graduate time in D.C. or New York, this is the perfect place. The careers office is wonderful and thorough, the course material is designed to keep up with current employer trends, and there are plenty of opportunities to network and connect with alum. Also, the students in the international studies program are some of the best, with experiences from PeaceCorps to the corporate world, and plenty of international time. The courses are pretty good--I'm still completing... Read More basic requirements so I will get to dive into my concentration starting in the spring and can't wait. The only real setback is the lack of scholarship funding; since it's a private institution there isn't a lot of federal funding and tuition is pretty expensive. I'm keeping my fingers crossed it pays off in the job sector though.

As a first-year having just started in the fall of 2013, I am still learning the resources available to me-however, I am absolutely impressed with the career center and their abundance of knowledge and provision of a plethora of workshops and seminars to aid students in obtaining the necessary tools to having a successful transition into a career. Also, my fellow students are incredibly well-traveled, intelligent, friendly people who I am excited to work and learn with. My courses thus far have been... Read More extremely informative but very manageable at the same time in terms of outside study. In addition, the school brings in a wide range of speakers and events and encourages high community involvement. Overall, aside from the very high cost of the program (as a private institution with limited scholarship funding, it is difficult to afford the degree), I am extremely satisfied with my choice of this program for my studies.
