University of Denver

I am writing this essay as newly admitted graduate student to the University of Denver. I am unable to accurately articulate how excited I am to become a pioneer. I have had my eyes set on this program (Global Finance, Trade and Economic Integration) for a long time and I truly fortunate to be granted the opportunity to join this honorable institution. There are YouTube videos, Facebook Groups and an amazing student services department. I've watched a handful of YouTube videos of students who shared their expectations, experiences and goals of joining the program. Being able to experience this program through the eyes of prior/current students was extremely valuable in making the decision to apply to this school. Once accepted into this program I have been allowed to join a Facebook group of current students. This pages acts like a forum. I am able to chat with students and I have been invited to social/academic events. The whole admission experience has been great, but what has been the icing on the cake is the helpfulness of student career services. I've been able to ask them all manner of questions, even questions that are typically outside their expertise. They have allowed me to audit classes and arrange meetings with faculty. They have even asked me about internships and how they can help get the ball rolling there as well. I am recently admitted student, who hasn't even begun classes. I will start January 3rd, 2017, however the treatment of the community has been amazing. The treatment has not only comes from the students, but from the faculty and former alumni. I have been extremely impressed with my experience thus far and I am so honored/privileged that the University of Denver would give me the opportunity to join their team.

Read More restricting borders, and anyone with high goals in the business world must have an international perspective and be aware of the realities of different international arenas. I am unique, and uniquely fortunate, to have a diverse background both academically and professionally which has exposed me to different continents, peoples, cultures, and languages. I am familiar with the increasingly important sustainability markets of global regions, and as such I am thoroughly prepared for the demands and challenges presented by undertaking study in the MS in Environmental Policy and Management program at the University of Denver. From a young age, I set goals beyond those of my peers. I decided to pursue the degree due to the experience of the instructors and the overall sophistication of the program, I received an incredibly valuable learning experience, beyond that which I could have received elsewhere. There is not another school in Colorado that I could imagine would provide as extensive of an education as the University of Denver. The small class sizes are incredibly conducive to learning. The largest class I had was a general requirement and had eighty kids in the class. Overall, almost all of the professors are incredibly helpful, knowledgeable and concerned about their students' learning. The Denver Publishing Institute is a four week professional networking opportunity and training session that prepares creative professionals for their ambitions in the publishing field. The program is relatively short compared to graduate programs, so less time is invested from students but valuable contacts and skills are learned if the student is dedicated. A certificate is awarded as well as graduate credit as an added safety blanket for graduates from the program. Major publishing professionals... Read More have graduated from the program and come to speak and network at the summer session, but like all human relations, interests and skills must overlap for the right opportunities.

The University of Denver, Sturm College of Law is gaining momentum in Experiential Advantage, clinics for persons who cannot afford an attorney, and national recognition. We're climbing the US News rank every year in at least one category. Our bar passage rate is up, and will likely continue to stay up. I think the school could use a little renovation on some of its courses -- certain theory courses could be altered towards Experiential Advantage, for instance. The workload is high, but that's the... Read More case for anyone going to law school who wants to stand out. The community at large is wonderful, but there is a herd-mentality sometimes. It happens when you practically live in the law building. I'm very glad that I'm attending Sturm College of Law, because I feel I am mostly getting the education that I want.

Daniels College of Business is an exceptional program. The professors are the most caring, supportive, and knowledgeable professors I have had and this is my second masters degree. In addition to excellent in-class courses, each cohort experiences a four day sailing trip that creatively teaches us about teamwork awareness.
