I think the program prepared me well for the workplace, but I didn't feel like they helped me truly find what was the right fit for me. I think the classes were a little large, and there would have been more opportunities if there had been less of us.

Tulane has tremendous resources in terms of teacher experience, internship opportunities, library materials, journals, and travel abroad opportunities, but in such a big school, you do also need to be a go-getter yourself and pursue them, accessing them isn't as easy as just going to this school. you have to seek them out.

My MPH program has effectively provided me with a practical opportunity to appropriately effect change in my community. I've learned various skills to effectively monitor and assess a community health program, evaluate health systems, health care agencies, etc. As an African American woman, I hope to advocate for proper health care services in my hometown of South Los Angeles. My master's degree education guarantees my competency for community health education and promotion, policy advocacy and management... Read More

Tulane offers you many opportunities to get involved in your future career, you just have to be cognizant and reach out to grab them. The work load is not excessive, and its designed that way so you can get lots of practical experience, applying what you learn in class to the real world. All that being said, a lot of the practical experience offered is unpaid, so it can be very difficult to finance your education through anything but loans. Watch out for that; there are very few financial resources... Read More

Tulane SPHTM emphasizes opportunities for students to get hands-on experiences in their area of study. The workload is challenging, but definitely allows for sufficient time to pursue these practical opportunities, and faculty members are extremely helpful in connecting students to various positions whether in New Orleans or abroad. Additionally, despite the city's crime rates, New Orleans is a fantastic place to live and study. The city has innumerable festivals and other fun events. As New Orleans... Read More

The college is filled with professors that are very well informed and willing to help students that are seeking help. The classes are well developed and the school works hard to make life as comfortable as possible. It is a relaxed environment that is easy to join into. The class work may be challenging for some but there are many resources for students in need of help.

Amazing school. The classes are amazing, and I've loved all of my professors. I feel as if I will be well prepared for life after grad school. I do wish they gave financial aid though - master's students do not receive any funding!

Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine is the only graduate public health program I applied to, and for good reason. The opportunities for hands-on experience in community health in the New Orleans area are unmatched, and the social life is great. Plus, it's the only school of Tropical Medicine in the US!

There is only one con in attending my top choice graduate program at Tulane University. The one and only con is the price of tuition. Tulane University is my top choice for my Public Health Education. There is no other school similar to it in the entire United States. Their Public Health program is world renown and specializes in global health.

As a student in the MPH program at Tulane, I was disappointed in how relatively simple the program work proved to be. I was in Epidemiology which is widely considered to be a more difficult specialization and definitely has the potential to be. Sadly, I felt that the offered courses merely dealt with the somewhat superficial aspects of the study. I would have preferred a more career based curriculum that rigorously and thoroughly prepared me for the challenges present in the real world applications... Read More

Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine has a very impressive faculty with connections all over the world. Our professors are involved in countless research projects and some even consult for UNICEF and WHO. The small class size allows you to form a strong relationship with your professors and they all have open door policies if students have questions or need advice.
