Tulane University

The school itself was alright. Probably too much money and I would have gone to a cheaper school if I could do it all over again. The faculty was pretty good at Tulane and the area the school is in is amazing. I liked the campus, but many things were outdated and not worth the price point of the university. During my time there, they finished a lot of new things, but I never really had access to them (new dining hall, new dorms, new business school). I think the worst thing about Tulane was the student... Read More body. They may be smart, but most of the students at Tulane were not the kindest and cared too much about the social ladder. Majority came from very rich families from LA or New York. They would never fail, regardless if they went to Tulane or a worse school.

I wish I could give the Tulane University School of Social Work a 0. That would be more accurate. Actually, a negative number would be the most accurate, as having completed this master’s program was a significant detriment to my life. It had a negative impact and therefore should receive a negative score. I am much worse off professionally and just generally in life for having done this program.
If you want to become a therapist RUN FROM THIS PROGRAM. I ended up being charged over $100k and never... Read More once, and I am not exaggerating here, not once did I learn a single thing about therapy, being a therapist, modalities of therapy, nothing, nada, zilch. My GPA is almost a perfect 4.0 too (3.95). I'm saying that to show that clearly, I understand the information being taught. So, the fact that I learned exactly nothing at any point during this program is not because I was not paying attention or not grasping the information. Also, maybe I shouldn’t be able to breeze through the whole 4 semesters with that kind of score. Graduate school should be pushing us and challenging our ideas and capabilities, not simple weekly essays on how being inclusive and understanding is obviously a good thing.
This was my life's most exceptional waste of time and money, by far. I have discussed our classes and curriculum with several professionals working as social workers as well as other mental health professionals. They are shocked at the complete neglect of any clinical training involved. Each one I have spoken to says that mock therapy sessions and role-playing were major components of their education. NOT ONCE EVER did I do any sort of mock therapy or role play as a mental health clinician of any sort. NEVER ONCE, NOT EVER, NOT EVEN FOR A MOMENT. I am now currently treating a patient caseload of about 35 patients having been entirely taught through my own curious reading and YouTube. There was not even a serious attempt at preparing us for clinical therapy.
Also, keep in mind that future employers will not care at all about what school issued your degree. I should have paid more attention to this before choosing a school. That part is my fault, but let me tell you so that you do not make the same mistake. You can get a FAR SUPERIOR education that will carry equal weight on a resume for 1/3rd of the cost that Tulane Charges. Those are just a few of the issues I and my classmates have had with this horrible master’s program, but I doubt I’m allowed the number of characters to this them all here. So that is where I will leave it. In closing, be kind to the future you. Save $60k+ and maybe actually learn something by attending a different school. The Fast Track MBA program at Tulane is a relatively new one year master's degree program, and there are a lot of issues that need resolving before ever recommending to anyone else. The professors 'teaching' the program's required 11+ credit hours are former executives that lack experience in an educational environment, which leads them to become quickly irritated by questions from the students when they do not know the answer, and thus, they lash out disrespectfully. Fast Track students are given... Read More a project relating (slightly) to their career goals, but the professors who oversee it are not required to help (or know how to) guide them to a conclusion. Personally, I walked out of this spending $15k+ on a high number of credit hours for one course with little academic knowledge and needing a therapist after the berating from the professors who attack you personally when they feel threatened, especially if you happen to be a female. If I had to do it again, I would just buy the books that actually taught me the material, not overpay for an institution with lazy teaching. The electives we were allowed to take were also offered to all Tulane MBA program students had some wonderful teachers who provided insights and welcomed interactive classrooms, especially Senot and Ebrahaim. Unfortunately, the few allowed electives are the only opportunity for a Fast Track student to network with classmates, and due to COVID19, online learning doesn't help foster new relationships.

Don't waste your money, the Fast Track MBA program is a scam and the elective courses are only slightly better. Unprofessional teachers who have no business teaching or structuring coursework are in charge, probably because no one else will take the job. The amount of constructive feedback given is negligible and the student's best interest is not a priority. You will pay tens of thousands of dollars and regret every minute of this degree if you pursue it here, despite what the website says. You... The graduate school is a nepotistic cesspool of fraudulent claims and academic malpractice. I wish someone would have told me this before I signed away my soul.

I felt my degree program was very well organized and easy regarding flow of courses to complete. It was not difficult determining which courses needed to be taken and classes were available at appropriate times. My general school adviser was not that great but the resources I needed to determine my steps were readily available for me to research and plan my courses on my own. Read More Even when the material was difficult, material given was easy to follow later on outside of class during studying. I definitely believe my education lived up the standards I've heard about it. The college itself has a comfortable clean environment, lots of outdoor space, greenery which is nice for walking to class or studying outside. There is a great variety of eating options whether with the dining room buffet, the LBC where many chain restaurants are accessible, or even several local restaurants right outside of campus. The school was also very good about offering fun events like cram jam which had music and ice cream before finals, music on the quad every Wednesday, outdoor movies. There were great stress relievers and ways to meet new people. Overall, I enjoyed my experience there and would recommend others considering it on their list of schools.

The education was great if you really study. My cohort had a few bad eggs filled with outrage and pettiness, who prevented free exchange of ideas without judgment. They showed up late to class, were always on their phones, and only joined in the discussion to take it over and decide what was acceptable to say or believe. Instead, they often did whatever they could to victimize others while claiming to be victims. It was shocking to see and experience, especially in a program for social work.
