Trident University International

This school is a joke and a waste of time. The "materials" provided are outdated websites that are irrelevant to the course. (There are not any books despite what the enrollment adviser stated). I submitted my assignments according to the syllabus and professor requirements, but still found myself receiving poor grades for not following the instructions. When I would email the professors they would either fail to respond or send a screen shot of the syllabus (that I had originally followed). The... Read More last class I took at the "university" the professor informed me that he had never had an issue in his class over x amount of years so there was no way there was an issue now. At this point he refused to answer any of my emails. I filed many complaints and disputed grades, but it did nothing except waste my time. I discussed my problems with my academic adviser and she stated that she gets several complaints everyday about these issues but the university will not do anything about them. Possibly because they are money hungry. Which brings me to the fact that I had to take out a student loan for personal reasons. Months had passed so I checked my account and it showed that I had an available balance which was received two months prior. I contacted the financial aid department and they said that there was no money in my account. Two hours later they "just received" my funds and sent them out fourteen days later. The funny thing is that I have proof that the money was there months prior. If there was a legitimate reason for holding it why would they lie? I will accept "we hold it for processing purposes". IF a "university" blatantly lies to me even though I have proof it makes me question every aspect of the school. I recently transferred from Trident to finish my degree and I have not had ANY problems. I wish I would have been forewarned about this pathetic excuse of a school before I wasted so much valuable time and money.

Some of the pros of dealing being a student at Trident is that all of your course material is online. I also appreciate that an Academic advisor contacts me on a consistent basis to see how my studies are going. The workload is pretty manageable and I find the assignments to applicable to what is going on in the world today. Some of the cons include this new rubric they came up with. Another con is their new guidelines for the threaded discussions. It's almost like doing another essay. The disscussions have to include scholarly references; the requirement is to have a discussion, not a debate so I do not understand the need for references to support. Before their new accredidation, as long as all assignments were turned in by the end of the course they wouldn't count it aganist you. Being a soldier with an upredictable schedule I couldn't always log in on a rigid schedule because my schedule is dependent upon what the military requires of me. Overall I like the school but they are making it increasingly difficult to pursue and education and juggle the in's and out's of daily life.

I'm in the MBA - Strategic Leadership program. I enjoy it. Just like any other college or university, TUI has pros and cons. Here is my experience so far. Pros: 1. The research-based format is gerat for creativity. It allowed me to think for myself. 2. The professors are generous about assignment extensions. Sometimes, I cannot complete assignments on time. Read More The MBA assignments are a challenge, to my pleasant surprise. I thought it would be an extension of my Bachelor's program. Boy was I wrong. I'm working full time EVERYDAY because I thought I could handle the overload. 5. Master degree classes are cheaper for veterans. My classes are only $1300 each. Cons: 1. Sometimes, it will be difficult to contact your professors. Many of them do not even list their university phone number. 2. Fnancial aid can be a pain in the a**, if you are not proactive enough to remind them. 3. Sometimes, you'll be assigned partners. In the real world, this is okay. However, online team assignments can get messy. At least, professors are understanding. 4. Be mindful that a few ignorant recruiters will discriminate against online graduates. This shouldn't be a problem in 2014 but it is. Luckily, only a small portion of the workforce feels negatively about online degrees.
