Texas Southern University

Texas Southern University is a good school. The pharmacy program is great. The pharmacology professors are great and extremely helpful! The only thing is that the administrators are hard to get a hold of. They rarely reply emails or never at all! The same goes for the rest of the school. The financial aid is the worst. They never call or notify you if something is wrong with your financial aid. When you ask them why they didn't notify you, their reply is that it's your responsibility to find out.... Read More Or you will ask them a question concerning your fafsa and one person will say something but when you come back and ask the same question to another person, they will give you a different answer. They never seem to be in synch. They never know who to send you to to solve your problem. They will send you to someone across campus, then when you get there that person will say "oh no, go to so and so" and then you go to the next person across campus and that person will send you to the first place you start off from. It is absolutely ridiculous.

The professors and staff have been very helpful in answering all my questions. The first week of orientation I was given information on financing, student services, library services, online services, communication resources and everything I could possibly need to know to make my experience the best. The professors do not make the material easy, by any means, but it challenges you to do your best. They want you to take charge of your own education and take your career seriously. The only complaint I could possibly give is it is hard to navigate the campus, but everyone is helpful in showing me where I need to go when I'm lost.

The pharmacology graduate program provides an excellent environment for learning by providing professors with various areas of expertise to advise, interact, and instruct each graduate student. In our facility we are provided with 2 computer labs, a pharmacy library, a graduate only learning/study room, and several labs with notary publishing and ongoing novel projects. Although we are provided with a generous stipend the cost of living still makes expenses outweigh the help. I have completed my... Read More courses and The Comprehensive exam and as a Doctoral Candidate in a challenging program I will need an additional year to finish my lab work and dissertation. I am grateful for the opportunity to be here but financially I am concerned about the upcoming year, I will succeed and walk the stage that is my goal and I will accomplish this task.
