The overall program was remarkably great! Most of the staff is wonderful, supportive, but at times didn't communicate well amongst each other. They seem to have let our group or cohort slip through the cracks on many features such as mentoring with seniors or alumni, recognition and other events the class prior to us seemed at have more advantages. The program is presented as a great ordeal, but adds more stress and extra classes and trainings to be completed with an extremely stressful on boarding process to obtain employment with the Cabinet for Health and Family Services. Our cohort were mostly older students with families and children, and missed out on some many activities and events with them, gave up full-time jobs for part time work or not able to work at all. The pressure was mainly on the senior year of the program, where many things were crammed in a short period of time. Be prepared to not be able to work a full-time job with a family if either the Undergrad or Master's program. The quality of the education is wonderful, and you get what you pay for at a private school rate.

I am currently attending Spalding University and will complete my Masters in Education in Spring of 2017. Overall, I have had an excellent experience, in spite of certain issues. The faculty in the Education Department is stellar. They have decades of experience in the public school system, and some have administration experience as well. They are supportive and provide a rigorous curriculum. As a teacher, one can only be partially prepared for his or her career by college. The rest of the education comes through teaching in the classroom. Spalding gave me to the opportunity to experience classroom observation as well. In Louisville, Kentucky, it's about "who you know". I have been given the chance to network and make connections that will last for years. This has helped me in my current position and also gave me the chance to recommend other students for positions in the public schools. The only concern I had with the university was due to a timing issue. During my attendance, there were several changes in the Education Department and programs, and my program needed to be extended. There were "too many hands in the pot" and sometimes I was given answers that were incorrect. I also have run out of financial aid for my last semester. I am still working on obtaining funds for my last two classes. Truly, though, that's just life. If I spend my time blaming people, I can't not progress. As a teacher, I need to be flexible and overcome the obstacles. Even though there were some issues with my education, I will graduate with a 4.0 GPA and will be the best teacher I can be, EVERY SINGLE DAY. I attribute my drive to my confidence in the education I received from Spalding University.

Spalding School of Professional Psychology is an excellent PsyD program. The faculty are always available for help, the classes are useful and relevant. There are several financial aid opportunities, from graduate assistantships to national grants that the program continually applies for. The program has a multitude of connections to professionals in the area, and I feel confident that I will be able to find a job after I graduate in the area or otherwise. They match 100% of their students to internships,... Read More and their APA match rate is above the national average. The negatives: the program is not very diverse in terms of students, and it's a commuter college so it's not really set up for "college life". Also sometimes there are professors for the additive (less important) courses that are not the best. Otherwise, there are honestly not that many cons to this program in my opinion. I'm very glad this is the school I picked for graduate school and would not have changed my choice if I could go back.

Spalding University's Auerbach School of Occupational Therapy is a very strong academic program. It prepares its students through rigorous coursework and practice in fieldwork. The faculty is supportive of the students and is always available for help or advice. Another aspect that is both a pro and a con is the location of the school. There are many pros to this program. The MFA in Creative Writing works hard to be accessible its students. The faculty is incredibly helpful and supportive. The scheduling of your semesters is incredibly flexible, which is a large reason that I chose this program since I live out of state and work full time. I returned for graduate school after ten years and my biggest concern was adjusting to student life again while also working full time. The level of support that I've received has been astounding. The professors are always available for questions and advice and are also understanding that most of the students are working professionals and are facing high demands with school, work and family. I am very glad that I chose Spalding for my graduate program. The faculty here are extremely attentive and available. They all seem to have a high interest in the success of all their students.
