Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania

Slippery Rock University is one of the best experiences of my life. It all started when I first walked on the campus. I know it sounds cliche, but the moment I walked on campus I told my parents, this is where I would be going to college. I just had this feeling within myself. My time at Slippery Rock was amazing! Read More class sizes are small and you really get to know your professors and they get to know you. The student life is great! There is greek life opportunities (which I did not take part in, so I can not speak about that), specific clubs based on interests, and numerous on-campus events like quad parties and concerts. Slippery Rock is also big on giving back and I was able to be a part of so many opportunities to volunteer my time. My only regret is that I wish I would have taken more opportunities and done more with my time at The Rock!

Slippery Rock University is based in a small college town surrounded by a rural area. Most buildings where classes are held are a good five minute walk from the dorms. The farthest is 15 minutes from the dorms, essentially everything is congregated in the same space. It is a very safe campus, but can get boring now and again if you do not have a car. This campus was perfect for me because I knew I did not want to be walking around a city, especially at night, to get from Point A to Point B. The population size was also perfect, because it was small enough to know a few people going to and from class, but big enough to where I was still meeting new people all the time.

Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania is a beautiful university located an hour north of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The campus is green and gorgeous and mixes archaic beauty (upper campus and Old Main) with modern beauty (new suite-style dorms and the new Student Union). Aesthetically, the campus is spacious, well-manicured, and pedestrian friendly. There are several amazing dining options including two traditional dining halls, Rocky's Den (for all-American finger food), several cafes (serving... Read More Starbucks coffee), and even a Quaker Steak and Lube. The campus is walking distance from the small town of Slippery Rock, a quaint place with an excellent school district. The campus is secure; there are campus police patrols, students can have walking or riding escorts if they feel unsafe, and there are several free Happy Buses that loop around campus and surrounding apartments to prevent drunk driving. The student body is about 15000, class sizes are typically small, and professors actually teach their own classes (instead of a teaching aide or student worker) as well as greet students by name! Campus resources operate well. The office of residence life employs many students on campus and has a quick turnaround when students reach out for help. The office of financial aid is speedy and knowledgeable. The office of student affairs is proactive about bringing major concerts to campus to keep students entertained. Maintenance comes when you call. The campus actively recruits international students and students of diverse backgrounds. Clubs and organizations are abundant. What more could you ask for? Every system in this University works together to give students an enjoyable experience here. I would definitely recommend this school to any and everyone!

Slippery Rock University is a great school. It's small, so class sizes range from just a few students to no more than about 150. My experience as a history major was wonderful and I received a lot of help and encouragement from the department. Experiences could vary by department, but I can certainly vouch for the excellence of the history and interdisciplinary studies departments. The online graduate program at Slippery Rock University is phenomenal. It allows me to take rigorous and relevant courses towards my graduate degree, while working full time and providing for my family. The courses are asynchronous, allowing me to complete my work at whichever time of day I can find the time to complete it. I applied for my graduate program a week before it started, and SRU expedited my paperwork to ensure I was able to start on time. I am happy and excited to be working towards...
