Santa Fe College

I give the college a 2/5 star rating. The reason that I give it 2 stars, over 1, is that it is very affordable. I graduated without debt while working through college. HOWEVER, the degree I got while at SFC, the Bachelors in Organizational Management with a focus in Human Resources, wound up being completely worthless. I couldn't get hired anywhere at entry level human resource jobs. Places such UF Health Shands, and even SFC (they didn't even interview me) itself denied me from entry level HR positions... Read More due to my lack of experience. Those companies that did interview me told me that my degree wasn't enough to compensate for my lack of experience for ENTRY LEVEL POSITIONS. The classes themselves did not teach information that was actually useful in an HR office setting. As such, I've concluded that the degree is worthless. The trade certificates and vocational schools offered might be better worth the investment, but the Bachelor's they offer are not.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND anyone to obtain a biology or any health science-related undergraduate or associates degree from this school. The biology and chemistry teachers are the worse teachers. They do not know what they are talking about, every single exam is written a response, even though UF has multiple choice tests. They do not give partial credit at all. All the tutors that come to help are UF students that do not know the material either. They combine the class with the lab, so the grade you receive... Read More in the class is the same exact grade you will receive in the lab, even though you pay two separate fees. This means that if you do not pass the class you will not pass the lab. Which also means that your GPA will drop significantly because of the grade combination.

Recently graduating from University of Florida Cum Laude then pursuing a few more classes at Santa Fe College the experience is shocking. The reason for the one star is this college suppresses their students versus helping them grow. I found the teachers to be exceptional. The finance department, the higher position employees need serious training. They constantly make mistakes, hold no accountability, then apologize but give no relief to the student. In turn, penalizing the student legally to where... Read More they hold up your transcripts stopping you from attending college. The kicker is it is happening all the time and they are not fixing the internal issues. The President is not involved, he pushes it on a higher up staff member. She admits they have a problem then places blame on the student then apologizes. Until changes are made don't risk your education. Find a college whose financial department knows what they are doing and the higher up staff members are trained professionally as well as care for the student. Its about growing after all.

Santa Fe College is a great option, whether you are a new student or a transferring from another school. Their online class options have been especially helpful to me as I am expecting my first child in January and work full time. The online classes gave me the flexibility to work the amount of hours that I need to in order to support my family, while still being able to further my education. Getting an education is important no doubt, and overall my experience to obtain my two year degree was good. The classes were good and the teachers were almost always able to make me think differently by the end of the semester by how much I learned. The prices of classes is very reasonable as well. The only downfall I encountered numerous times at Santa Fe was in financial aid and administration. All of the workers in financial aid were always very heartless and unwilling to explain or aid me in... Read More my journey through college even if I begged and pleaded just for an explanation. They often would cut my grants and never give me a reason for it. From the start I recall clearly my first day as a freshman getting chastised by a lady in the financial aid department who told me I should have had memorized my student number before stepping foot on campus. Other than the unfortunate encounters with financial aid, the overall experience was good and I would recommend the school to others.
