Stay away from the online PMHNP program

Poor class design. Some professors are very difficult to communicate with. I scored well in the classes and on exams. However, they did not present the information that will be on the exams to you before hand in the classes. You literally had to go find your own information and hope it was what they were going to ask on the exam. Some question answers were clearly outdated and wrong. You will feel a general sense of confusion.

Where shall I begin. I have always been an honest, hardworking, ambitious, and dedicated student. I have NEVER failed a class until I was in the Regis College FNP program. I had all's A's and B's (mostly A's) up to this point throughout my college career. That all ended when it came to my second to last semester. I believe they know you're locked in and will pay for a new semester in order to follow through with your dreams of becoming a FNP. I truly believe they are running a money making scheme... Read More at the students expense. The program relies heavily on an I-Human platform which has several kinks that have not been worked out. If you don't participate in the seminar you will not know how to "beat" the I-Human patient simulation scenarios. Every scenario is very far from reality and nothing but a joke. I learned nothing from it. Case studies and SOAP notes would have promoted higher learning and prepared me for clinicals and the real world. I was doing EXTRA unnecessary work because the I-Human program brings you through several assignments and my professor did not mention it to me once, knowing and seeing I'm going way overboard, but instead failed me. What a kick in the stomach. We were not given one tool for clinical therefor you will be a deer i headlights. A friend of mine went through the Rivier online program and she was providing me with the tools her school provided her because they genuinely care about their students success. Regis failed several VERY bright, professional, and ambitious students the last 1-2 semesters. Again, a money making scheme. I have come to believe this is truly their motive. This is a completely self taught program with little to none staff support. You are left out for the wolves in a "sink or swim" learning environment. The program is run by arrogant, self-important, condescending, belittling leaders who do not promote a positive learning environment or student success. I would NOT recommend this program to anyone I care about. Run far away and don't waste your money. Spend it on a school where you know student success and support is their top priority.

Went for postgrad primary care NP school. I was judged on my grammar & spelling instead of being judged on my skills. As someone whose English is the 2nd lang., it seemed ridiculous to penalize me for missing a minor word here or there, or for punctuation errors. Also, at certain points, even when I gave the correct ans., I was told "that's not the answer I wanted. I wanted the ans. fr. the book", except the book was outdated, & I was currently working as an NP already & knew what the updated protocols... Read More were. I attempted to challenge this ruling, & lost. I know others in my class complained of similar issues. Instructors were dismissive, and a letter to the dean was ignored. I CANNOT recommend this school to anyone. I tx to another univ. where I got great grades & the instructors were extremely attentive to their students. The class I failed at Regis I got an A in at the other school bec. grammar was not in the curriculum. Regis cost me a lot of money & time, also.

DO NOT go to this college for the psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner program. They say the required clinical hours are 600. However, what they don't tell you (until it's too late to transfer out) is that you will literally have to be in your clinical site for 800-900 hours. As they only give you clinical credit for "the hours spent with the patient plus 15minutes for documentation". Therefore, any time spent talking about the case with preceptor, preparation to see the patient, researching... Read More medication, putting together your treatment plan, and the excessive amount of documentation that is required in seeing a patient is NOT given credit for. So, if you spend 15minutes with a patient and it takes 45 minutes to prepare and document, you will only be given 30 minutes credit instead of the hour you spent on it. Therefore, you have to be in clinical 40 hours a week in order to get 24 hours credit. Again, DO NOT fall pray to their PMHNP program unless you can afford to not work due to the amount of extra clinical hours you'll need to do. This does not include the hundreds of pages in reading you'll have to do weekly in teaching yourself, as they do not give powerpoints or breakdown any of the learning materials. Oh! And don't forget, you better have your preceptors lined up ahead of time, because they will NOT help you find a clinical site... please do not make the same mistakes I did and get stuck in a program that you cannot afford to get out of.

Leadership in the online nursing program is not clear or helpful. There is ZERO assistance with finding clinical sites, and when you do find clinical sites be prepared to jump through hoops to get them approved. You will teach yourself the material every week. While I did have some very helpful and easy to contact instructors, unfortunately the last two semesters of the program that involved clinical approvals were just awful. Please pick a program that will offer you actual distance with your clinical... Read More placements. You’re paying for a service when you attend school and this program gives you very little for the amount you’re paying.

I should’ve ran the first day I had issues with student services not returning my calls. When I received my acceptance letter in July, I left numerous messages for my advisor Rachel and Lawrence to call me back and she never did. Finally I was informed that I could schedule an appointment online which I did a week out. I waited for my advisor Rachel to call me and she never did. She never called me back.She called me the next day while I was at work attempting to go over the questions I had. I finally got a hold of her a week before my courses start it, after numerous telephone calls and emails, and she was less than helpful. I continue to start my classes because I want to bypass my bachelors and go into my masters, and this is the only school I found online that will allow me to do that. September 4th and 5th I attempted to withdraw my courses due to a medical emergency and me having to have surgery. I called the next day on September 6 and spoke with a Sierra in the support office and she told me that she seen I attempted to drop on the fourth and the fifth, and that I should attempt to email registration regarding my drop because my classes were still going. I received the email confirmation That I was dropped but yet I was still in rolled in my classes. So a week later I again began to call the office to speak with somebody. Again nobody called me back. Finally I got a hold of somebody who told me I need to email this Mark guy. As soon as I got In touch with him he told me that I did not drop prior to the drop date, which was September 7. Then I got another email stating that I was dropped. So I caught him and when I wason the phone with him he was very argumentative and raise his voice at me. He told me that “this will go in your favor“ but when I asked if he can look at the online portal and see when I dropped the course, he stated that you cannot drop a course online. If that’s the case why did IT tell me that is how I’m supposed to drop a course? Anyways if I was you I would not waste any money or time invested in this establishment. It is triple the amount of other online schools, You’re pretty much on your own when it comes to guidance in your career path, and support services, financial aid, the head registration office, Don’t care about their students. A administrator that sits in a office or attends meetings is not the future nurse I want to become. I want to be valued as expert nurse and have the proven education to be a effective and successful nurse leader. Having the knowledge of applied and proven theories in leadership, quality care delivery, and advanced clinical assessment is the nurse leader I want to be and Regis College can help me achieve this goal.

Regis College Masters of Occupational Therapy program is the newest occupational therapy program in Massachusetts. The professors are very passionate about the field and they have very diverse and experienced adjunct professors as well. The program is small which has its advantages and disadvantages. All the professors get to know you on a personal level and are invested in your success. You have plenty of opportunities to get extra help when needed and the professors make sure you do not fall behind... Read More on your course work. One disadvantage is that they dont have some of the connections for fieldwork compared to the bigger Boston schools. However, its fieldwork runs at different times compared to other schools because its a January start. The program has been a great experience thus far, and hope it prepares me for my future career.

I am a full supporter of Regis College. I attended undergraduate education there and thought the nursing program was fantastic. I continue to be an alumni supporter by singng in the Alumnae Chorus. The quality of the graduate education has been fantastic so far, and I especially feel the professors that teach the nursing admin/health admin courses have good solid understanding of the material and I enjoy how they compare it to real life situations in preperation for what the workforce is like, and... I do feel that there could be more financial assistence to students, especially those that excel academically. Graduate school globally is not affordable, so that is not an insult to Regis College only, but I globally feel graduate students should receive the financial aid opportunities that undergraduate students are awarded for Academic Merit.

The generic master's program to become a nurse practitioner is very competitive to get into, so there is a high-caliber of dedicated and passionate students. Professors are not only dedicated to ensuring that students succeed in the program, but also that they are prepared to be excellent nurses and nurse practitioners. The program is competitive and utilizes the most advanced and up-to-date technology to teach students. However this emphasis on technology (i.e. the ipad initiative) makes students dependent on items that may not always be present.
