It's just alright. If you are going for a very specific reason and know exactly what you need, it can be a good gateway to a better career and more money. If you are a first-generation student who have people in your life that say "go to college and do anything" you should really reconsider. It will not be until your senior capstone class that you will realize the realities of trying to break into a mental health career from a subpar school. You can get honors, even a 4.0 here, but it doesn't really... Read More matter because grad programs realize a high GPA at MSU Denver is not equal to high GPA at any other school. The teachers range from nice and helpful, to totally cold, bitter, sexist, and useless. You'll never make friends here and from my understanding living near campus is a horrible experience. My biggest gripe with the school is the insane level of forced diversity. Instead of focusing on important aspects to your degree, so much time is spent on politics even when it is not appropriate. That said, if you are someone who wants to try and create a career out of social justice you will likely enjoy your time here. Though, good luck finding more than minimum wage jobs or even an unpaid internship if you are immensely lucky. Ultimately, a B.S. in psych or any related social science is just as valuable from here than it is from some fringe online school no one has ever heard of.

MSU Denver is absolutely terrible! Despite graduating with honors, this supposed university is the worst possible educational experience. The administration focuses on nonexistent problems, or creates fake problems to solve; instead of handling anything real. The joke politics run everything, as does apathy and forced diversity training, that only worsens problems. The professor’s are mostly awful, with extreme biases and little concern for students. There is no help at any level whatsoever and the... Read More advisers in my department offer no help, have been fired, then rehired, and are now even more bitter and useless. This school really damaged me and did everything opposite of what a college is supposed to do. I hope future students will read this and stay away from MSU Denver and go somewhere where they will be appreciated, instead of scarred

I don't really have anything against MSU. It was the right place for me at a very specific time and when it stopped serving that purpose, I transferred to CU Boulder. If MSU is your only realistic option, it's a good school. This means that if you're going there because of budget or location or because it fits with your work schedule, I wouldn't caution against it. That said, I can remember a handful of classes that were pretty off-the-rails in terms of the instructors not having it together. That, and more than a few classes that were egregiously easy A's that would have been challenging at most other institutions. It's good if you just want a degree. If you're planning on grad school or want an intellectual challenge, pay attention to whether this school is actually challenging you. I transferred to CU Boulder and the difference was so stark within the first semester that I'm a little upset at how much time I spent at MSU. The cost difference wasn't worth it. I think individual experiences vary a lot at MSU because there's less consistency among the faculty, and they're trying to crowd please because there's also less consistency among students (the student age range is usually between 17 and 35, most work, etc.) This is the benefit of going to a school where people are mostly in a similar place in life - some uniformity can be assumed, and the professors can expect more from each student.

Metropolitan State University of Denver was a great undergraduate college to attend. The campus is situated in downtown Denver and its a beautiful city campus. There is a light rail close and RTD bus routes close. It's easily accessible. There is on campus parking if needed. I found the classrooms comfortable and easily accessible as well. The staff was fantastic and I had great experiences with all my professors. There were plenty of common area options and on campus food options as well. I enjoyed...
