McKendree is an amazing school with a wonderful environment! It was so easy and comfortable finding my way around campus. The educators are highly educated and treat the students with respect and equal. Some of my favorite memories was walking the campus and taking the classes with certain professors.

Degree:

School is overpriced, professors are beyond liberal in all aspects of life and are not open to anything else but their views. Zero internet service to do homework, overall what a wonderful 4 years here at McKendree university. Jokes aside the school location did offer some good college party’s and even crazier bar expierence.

Mckendree was not what I expected. The campus is not well kept up with, there was trash everywhere, the classrooms were freezing all the time, the professors did not help or teach well, the advisors didn’t help. Communication sucked. Too much money to attend a school that doesn’t care to help the students. I would not recommend Mckendree. The wifi and dorms also had many problems. Freshman parking was too far away. I was a commuter so maybe someone else’s experience is different. You can tell that... Read More

Degree: Psychology

My experience with the psychology online program has exceeded my expectations. I came as a transfer student after years of not being in school and my GPA was embarrassing. I feel that the classes have been hard online but the instructors are only an email away with answers for any issues that arise. The administrative support at the extended campus has been extremely helpful in seeing where I am in my classes and financial clarification. At the rate I am going I should graduate with honors this year... Read More

Degree: Education

After receiving my BA from McKendree, I returned to receive my MA in Educational Studies. It was a great program that was so applicable in real time to the classroom. What I learned at McKendree I could literally turn around and start applying it to my classroom instruction the next day! Classes were affordable with their educator rate, and the evening classes were completely convenient, as well were the classes offered at cohort locations.

I liked McKendree, but my overall feeling about my degree, the time it took to get there and the cost of it, is not very high. I think there are some people there that care, there are teachers that will work with you to help you achieve your objective. I did find that many of their teachers were more helpful then at the community college level, where they only see you as a dollar sign. However McKendree's cost is very high and they always seem to be getting into your pocket, or have their hand out.... Read More

Degree: Biology

McKendree's Biology program is geared toward student success. The faculty are invested in their students and do their best to make themselves available whenever help is needed. Because McKendree is a smaller university, the teachers are able to devote individual time to students in need of extra assistance. They also offer significant help with writing and student tutoring to ensure student success. I would highly recommend this program to anyone looking for a caring staff that is willing to help... From the outside looking in, McKendree is a great school, beautiful campus and professors seem great until you're actually a student. As a graduation requirement, you have to have 360 internship hours and your adviser has to sign off and approve you to work at a certain location and it supposed to help you write learning objectives but I ended up finding an internship on my own and I had to keep emailing my adviser every week to remind her I sent learning objective drafts that needed to be perfected.... It was a great institution for collaborative learning. Small campus, which made it easy to meet people, and the professors are very accessible to their students.

McKendree is a wonderful school despite it's location. The staff and teachers are great and the programs offered are the highest in Illinois.

If you want to take classes online, good luck, it will cost you. After hitting the tuition assistance cap from the cost of the $250 per credit hour class, you will have to pay a $50 per hour technology fee. Simple math equals $150-$200 out of your pocket and that doesn't even include your books.

Workload is truly a con but I know without the work, I can't get a degree. Location and times available for classes are pros.

The Pros are the class sizes, the instructors willingness to assist and the fact that they have or currently work in the fields that they are teaching. The Cons are the prices, the use of the text book, it is always required but it isn't always the book that should have been used.
