Lindenwood University

Lindenwood is overall a great school. When I attended, there was a large population of international students, most of whom were there on sports scholarships, which lead to a diverse student body. Class sizes were relatively small, and by the time I was in my senior year, it felt like myself and my fellow seniors were in a "cohort" of sorts. I began the School Counseling master’s program in 2021, and at first, everything felt smooth and supportive. The faculty and staff were accessible, communication was clear, and overall, it felt like I was part of a program that truly cared about my success.

However, during my final year (2024–2025), things drastically changed. Multiple administrative shifts created confusion and chaos that directly impacted both the students and the program’s overall structure. I’ve personally had three different... Read More academic advisors in less than six months, with no communication or explanation behind those changes.

As an out-of-state student, I have to say I would not recommend this program unless you live in Missouri. The support for out-of-state students is severely lacking. I often felt like I was navigating everything on my own—figuring out requirements, deadlines, and next steps with little to no guidance.

To give just one example: after receiving licensure instructions from a professor, I reached out to the staff member they referred me to—only to find out (after weeks of no response) that person hadn’t worked there in two years. There’s a major breakdown in communication, and the lack of accurate, updated information is incredibly frustrating—especially when you’re trying to complete a degree and move forward with licensure.

I graduated on May 9th, and as of now, I’m still waiting for updates on my degree conferral and licensure process. The program no longer feels organized or student-centered, and that’s disappointing for those of us who’ve put in years of work and thousands of dollars.

In short: If you’re not located in Missouri, this program may not be equipped to meet your needs—and unfortunately, you may end up feeling unsupported and overlooked.

I live abroad with a full-time job and young kids, so a traditional MFA program was out of the question for me. Therefore, Lindenwood's fully asynchronous online model was an ideal fit. These discussions were lively and engaging, and I learned a lot from the insights of my instructors and peers.

I completed my MFA at Lindenwood University recently. The program offers on-campus and online classes, I worked full-time and needed an online program flexible to my circumstances, and I could not be happier with my choice. The program offers various fiction, nonfiction, and poetry courses. Students can pursue a focused track and earn a degree with an emphasis or try a broad approach. My instructors were excellent in the subject matter and created an encouraging and learner-centered environment. The Lindenwood MFA professors offer invaluable support to the students. I am in contact with several of my peers and professor and am grateful for the opportunity to have gained a writing community. I highly recommend this program to anyone passionate about writing.

As a transfer student, I was afraid to come to Lindenwood not knowing anyone and moving far from home. I found that there were so many other incoming transfer students and it was so easy to make friends! I was a double major, Exercise Science and Athletic Training, with a minor in Psychology. I lived on campus all four years and loved each bit of it! majority of our students here at Lindenwood do live on campus, so it’s a very fun environment. The food on campus was great and there was always so much going on, whether it was sporting events or campus activities! St. Charles is amazing and there’s so much to do off campus as well! I truly loved my experience and am thankful for the opportunity to share about it!

Well, where do I begin. Attending LU was the worst educational experience I have ever had. The financial department takes about 5 weeks to respond. And, when they do, you get conflicting information. Professors take WEEKS to grade assignments. They act like you are bothering them by asking questions. Books not available on time. They cannot seem to understand why I would be frustrated. 7,000 a semester and they cannot understand. I do NOT recommend LU for your education. They know they really messed... Words cannot describe how awful the College of Education is. The entire department is a complete mess and in disarray. I have never in my life seen such unprofessionalism and disorganization in a college program. I've been through several college programs and Lindenwood was by far the worst. Not only was the entire program confusing and unorganized, but it left me completely unprepared for my career field. I really enjoyed my time as a student at Lindenwood University, especially in the School of Health Sciences. I decided to pursue my degree in Exercise Science as it would prepare me very well for when I would head into physical therapy school. I enjoyed attending Lindenwood University for the following reasons: there were plenty of programs for freshman that allowed me to get to know the campus and get to know the activities on campus I could participate in. Everything on campus is fairly close together, so I never had to walk far to get to classes or the dining hall. The one major thing I did not like about Lindenwood was the residential life. The buildings were oftentimes uncomfortably hot or cold, the fire alarms went off in the middle... Read More of the night, and it was difficult to get a hold of anyone to give feedback.

As a parent of a student attending Lindenwood Belleville I will say I had really high hopes that this was a good opportunity. Unfortunately, between the professors cancelling classes before each long weekend, the coach acting more immature than the students and the location being in a a high crime area the overall experience is less than what I hoped to be able to provide. Professors grade on scales that do not make any reasonable sense and they make up rules as they go. They are teaching students...
