The university doesn't have a handle on enforcing its policies when it comes to illegal substances, which makes the dorms feel less like a place of study and more like a party zone.

Financial aid is another area where Lincoln University falls short. The office is disorganized, and getting clear, timely answers about your financial situation is nearly impossible. It's not uncommon to find yourself chasing down paperwork, trying to get hold of someone who can help, and still not getting the information you need. When I attended Lincoln, I had no real idea what I wanted to study. But after a run in with an adjunct teacher, I was referred to meet with the head of the school of Education. Meeting with him and discussing what I felt was wrong with the teacher, he said you sound really strong about what you think a teacher should be. When I enrolled to get my Masters degree at a much larger school later, I was more prepared for the course load and the work needed to succeed. The friends that I gained there are now like family members. We're in touch almost daily and are there for each other for everything. I have earned other degrees since leaving Lincoln, but none mean as much to me as the degree I earned from Lincoln University.

Lincoln University is a great school. It allowed me an opportunity to advance my education. Earning an MBA at Lincoln has opened many doors for me throughout in my career, not to mention the HBCU experience. Lincoln University is a good school, because it is small and tuition is a reasonable price per credit hour, however professors can be sloppy and unhelpful in the business department. I have several teachers who know what they are talking about and have experience in the field, but they are not passionate about teaching and that really reflects in the classroom and during office hours. I have another teacher who is highly unprofessional, talking about how she feels she should be making more money... It is also located in a "rougher" part of Jefferson City, so there are at least a couple lock downs due to armed suspects being on the property. This is scary, but it is also a "norm" at Lincoln, and their idea of a lockdown is to email and text students not to go outdoors; teachers never know when there is a lockdown unless they are on their computers during their office hours. You must be thinking, "wow this school sounds like a mess", well yes it is, but it is also more affordable than anything else in the area making college for people like me, who are struggling financially, possible.

Being a graduate of this university, I have a lot of pride for my Alma Mata. However, when it comes to handling business, Lincoln University of Missouri is one of the worst. The excuse we were typically told revealed that the university was broke and stealing our money. Our student government was a joke as well. Promising that if we voted on the conditions, our voices were heard and demands would be made, Lincoln University often promised us the world and gave us dirt. What did I do after graduating Lincoln University? I became and entrepreneur. My resume and portfolio was so poor that I would get laughed at by my competitor sitting next to me. Nobody who graduates the Journalism program has gotten a job in journalism. Nobody that graduates any program, outside of the Education and Nursing programs, get a position in their field.
