My time with Liberty University was a positive time in my life. I had attended a number of different online colleges, since I was in the military at the time. Even though I was an online student I still made connections with my fellow classmates. I found myself excited about was I was learning and felt like I was getting a true education for the first time with a college. On top of that the support staff was amazing. They were always available when I needed them, and ensured I was prepared for each semester. I graduated in 2016 with my BA from Liberty and would highly recommend their school to anyone who is looking to continue their education.

Liberty University Online was great. I chose to go to Liberty while taking time off from work to deal with a health issue. The online classes gave me the opportunity to progress with limited physical capabilities at the time. This was the 3rd university that I attended and the first that focused in on teaching you how to think instead of only giving you facts. I attended Liberty online for 2.5 years. Having attended several colleges, including Miami University (OH) and St. Johns River State College, I found Liberty to be every bit as academically rigorous as secular schools. However, I found learning at Liberty to be more enjoyable and retained the information better. Read More watch online videos, and then take tests or write a paper. There are also discussion boards, but these take up little time and are easy (although plenty people lose points for not doing this simple amount of work). Being a Religion major, there was a lot of writing. We used Turbian format, which I found to be much better than other formats. For my major, most papers were between 5 and 10 pages (with the upper level courses requiring the most research and writing). I believe the bad reviews are mostly because people didn't put in the effort or expected someone to make an excuse for them. My son is autistic and due to some complications I was going to be a day late getting in an assignment. I emailed the professor and they were very understanding an accommodating. The good thing about going to a Christian university is that, strangely enough, the professors act and react like Christians should. Most, if not all of them, have a PhD. Look at the job postings and that's typically the minimum requirement. They also accepted all of my transfer credits without any issues. It should be noted that I completed my degree (attending full-time) while working full-time as a police officer. I have a wife and five children, one with special needs. Yes, it takes time to do the work, but it wasn't so much that I didn't have a good family life. Yes, the math sucks. Yes, math sucks up a lot of time. Yes, writing a 10 page paper takes time. But, it's not impossible and when you finish that degree it is a great feeling. If you can't manage your time or apply yourself without outside motivation, then learning online isn't for you. If you are a self-starter and have discipline, this could be the thing you've been looking for. As a veteran, I found the school to have an amazing Military Affairs office. I received $400 a semester for books via a free voucher. I also received a 25% tuition discount for being a police officer. I never had any issues with paperwork or using my GI Bill. My refunds always came in on time and my monthly stipends were deposited without any issues (attendance records to the VA were done without any effort on my part). Due to their programs, I was able to receive my B.S. without spending any money out of pocket. Completing my degree entitled me to an 8% pay raise at work and another $80 per month incentive from the state (both of which apply for my entire career). I can't speak to whether the degree is respected or not. People I have met who thinks of it as a "University of Phoenix" degree usually feel that way because it's a religious school. Frankly, I love Jesus and I'm not ashamed to have gotten an education from a university that teaches creation. The school is fully regionally accredited, which is the best kind of accreditation. Liberty is accredited by the same agency as Auburn University, Appalachia State, Clemson, Duke, and the lists goes on...... I had planned on pursuing the ministry, but due to a prior divorce, those plans likely won't happen. However, I intend to pursue my Master's in History through Liberty, with the hopes of teaching at a local 2-year college. Beware, a Master's is very reading and writing intensive (as with every school). Overall, I think Liberty is a good school. Is it a money making machine, yes. So is Arizona State University... they have the same enrollment numbers and a heavy online student base. All college are money making machines. The question is... Can I get a degree that means something (accredited)? and How much will that cost me? Liberty is very affordable, especially if you're a veteran.

I had a very high view of Liberty. I never attended the school. But my brother did and I visited often. I loved the atmosphere and everything I saw and heard. My view of Liberty changed. My fiancé enrolled to Liberty online. His first time doing online classes was definitely a learning curve. He did not do too well in a course and did not pass it. Being from Canada this cost a lot of money. So, yes, maybe he should have worked a little harder to achieve the grades needed. But trust me, lesson learned.... Read More He then wrote an appeal in order to remain a student at LU and simply redo the classes. After MUCH waiting and MUCH more money was spent the appeal was denied. So, Liberty was unwilling to give him a second chance, we lost a lot of money, and now he is no longer a student. So thank you to Liberty University for costing us a lot of money as we plan for a wedding and a life together, thank you for totally wrecking any positive view I had of you, and thank you for dropping my fiancés self esteem. I can guarantee you he will never fail a class again. But you will never have the opportunity to see him succeed. When I started Liberty Online I already had an Associates from a former college. I had six years active duty Navy before I attended any college. Liberty Online has been the best experience I have had with education. Liberty took my associates and Navy experience and used them toward college credit. I have finished my Bachelors and am now working on my Masters also at Liberty and all online. The environment is excellent and the support is great. I am now in my second year at Liberty University, and the experience has proven to be quite wonderful. The course load can be quite challenging if you are a full-time student and are working full-time, but it is nonetheless manageable, provided you put forth the effort. I am nearly finished with my primary degree – a Bachelor’s of Science in Religion – and, I will have just 1 1/2 more years of studies before I complete my secondary in psychology. There is some merit to claims made by others that Liberty University’s undergraduate courses are more research oriented than not, however, for those who aspire to pursue graduate degrees, I can think of no better preparation. In fact, some of the knowledge acquired is comparable to things learned at the graduate level, as evidenced by my conversations with individuals who hold their professional degrees. While I cannot say I share similar experiences to those having difficulties with the financial aid department (I have personally had no problems whatsoever), I believe a university’s overall qualities are not solely based upon the speed at which they disperse aid refund. Furthermore, I know several people who attend universities with exceedingly high tuition rates, and very rarely do they receive significant refunds, if any. Liberty University provides a quality education at low cost, offers great services to military veterans, and it has opened up so many avenues previously unavailable to me. I have already referred degree seeking people to Liberty University and, I will continue to do so in the future.

Liberty University has been a great online school and I must say that their online support staff is second to none. I am also a veteran and I have had wonderful dealings with their VA reps as well.

I would recommend this school to anyone looking to learn more about the Bible and enhance their Christian worldview. The quality of the instructors is solid and the level of feedback that I have received has been great on submitted assignments.

The cost versus the education that you will receive is good, and I have yet to have an issue that hasn't been resolved to my overall satisfaction.
