Lansing Community College

I will say I did graduate and I am now a nurse. I am a paramedic also, but that was before enrolling at LCC. The nursing program was terrible. The way the material was presented was poor at best. We were told during our last semester that we would be getting no lectures even though we were required to come to class. The director of the program also wrote the tests and would not let the instructors of the courses see them prior to teaching us. When we asked questions we were told that all we wanted... Read More were the answers to the tests. During one class the teacher called security and had the entire class escorted out of the building due to hostility while being asked questions by the class. The last class has around a 40% fail rate and the director of the program is quite proud of that. If you have a choice stay away from LCC nursing.

As part of a minority community, being hispano/latino born in Cuba, I would totally recommend going to Lansing Community College to get your degree. I does not matter if you have no idea what to do, or what to choose as your profession, you are going to receive all the help you need from their counselors and advisors. LCC is a good place to start if you want to go into the sciences on a low budget before transferring. The teachers are qualified in their fields with plenty of experience. Some are quirky but all of them were thorough in the subject they teach. With a little patience you can get along with the rest of the school. I'm not a fan of their writing department and would suggest help from elsewhere if possible. Things to avoid are the financial office, admissions office, and counselors, I don't know if... Read More they know what they are doing, I have heard stories of lost credits and "accidental" dropped courses before the term was up. I almost couldn't finish a year after they "misplaced" my files, but thankfully my classes weren't canceled.

Lansing Community College is a great place to go before transferring. I will be transferring to pursue a BA in Illustration next year, and by going to LCC first, I have saved a great deal of time and money. LCC offers a wide range of art classes, from airbrush techniques to animation, which can really help an artist to experiment and know where their passions lie. It wasn't until I learned about LCC that I started thinking that I really might have what it takes to get a degree, and for that I am thankful.

The biggest reason I attended this school was because it was promoted by my high school, and it was decently close to me. My experience with this school was horrible, the years that I attended there was a lot of construction so classes were always being interrupted, and the parking situation is horrible. Students have to pay for parking, and for students who already have to spend 10 dollars a day to drive to school, it gets to be too much. Some of the instructors were okay, but I had a couple who...
