I took a completely online graduate program with the school. The program was geared towards working individuals so a lot of the courses were flexible in how and when you take them. I enjoyed this aspect of it because at this point in my career I could not commit to attending in person courses at the same time every week. On the other hand, the same freedom to tailor your classes also made group work very hard. There were many people from different parts of the states, with different work schedules,... Read More

Lots of opportunities for different types of research with plenty of highly intelligent academics. Courses are difficult but certainly doable with a little bit of effort. Collaboration across departments and schools for multidisciplinary research was common.

The ChemBE program is one of the most rigorous programs at Johns Hopkins. It is important to have a great work/life balance at this school. Hopkins strives to meet that balance. Hopkins also strive to prepare you for your future. It has many research opportunities that people get involved in during their freshman year (myself included). The ChemBE program is perfect for those who want to push themselves beyond their limit to see what they can accomplish.

I got to JHU EP Online Grad School for a Masters of Applied Biomedical Engineering. The amount of work for the classes varies between professors. But all the professors I've had thus far seem really passionate about what they teach. That helps me as a student. The online class is really well done and I have no problem interfacing with professors or other group members.

I am pursing a masters program in Biotechnology with a focus on Bioinformatics. While i am thrilled to be here at JHU, the financial burden has made it very difficult for me to continue being successful in the program. In addition, the student population is not very diverse and it's often difficult for me to connect with other students within and outside of my program. Overall, it is a good program and i am happy to be enrolled in it, but i believe with additional resources, it could be much better... Read More

Pros: many ways to access the program (online, on-campus etc.) with many campuses for variety in location (Montgomery campus, Homewood campus etc.). Highest quality faculty with the best materials to prepare for the next generation of biotechnologists! Cons: Some faculty are also working professionals like students and therefore less accessible during work hours than full-time professors.

The Biotechnology program is very flexible- it allowed me to continue working full-time, which was perfect for me. The online classes encourage a lot of discussion and participation, and the level of discourse is high. Since the school is private, the tuition is gastronomical.

The Biotechnology program at JHU is great for someone, like myself, who is working a full-time job and keeping up with the day to day responsibilities that comes after college graduation. I have been able to apply the topics and techniques taught within my courses directly to the work I do now, and even improve the methods we use. The only real downside of this program is that I wish I had more time to take some of the courses that are offered, as I will likely fulfill the course requirements long... Read More

The school is great for people who are looking to get into public health. The downfall is that a lot of the teachers aren't very accessible so if you are struggling with coursework, they won't always be open or willing to meet with you in person. The major downfall is the cost of the institution and lack of aid available in the form of scholarships, grants, or tuition waivers. I am in a lot of debt because of this school.

I love how you can work full time while completing this program. The classes are interesting, diverse, and pertinent to the biotech industry. They are definitely tough but useful. Offering both online and on campus classes is great, but the selection for on campus is pretty limited. Overall very happy with the program.

As I am just beginning my degree it is difficult rate JHU in all of the above categories. So far everything I have dealt with through the university has gone very smoothly and been very positive. I look forward to completing my education with JHU.

My courses so far in the Biotechnology masters program have been awesome! I worried that the online format would not be as challenging and fulfilling as in-person courses, but the online classes have given me the challenge I expected out of graduate-level courses at an institution like JHU. My instructors have been wonderful and highly accessible.

The graduate program is great, professors are easy to talk to, courses are challenging. However, the tuition cost is very high. I understand JHU is a world recognized school but I think this great education should be financially accessible to all.
