GMU is a large, diverse school in a great location. Its proximity to DC means that there are lots of internship and job opportunities (for both during and after college), as well as professors who are at the tops of their fields and offer fantastic networking. GMU isn't your typical small-town college campus - you have on-campus housing, but you also have a ton of off-campus options, and there is a lot to do nearby since it's in a suburban location outside of a major city. The university has continued... Read More

As an Accelerated Masters student (currently still an undergraduate but taking graduate courses) I must say that this program is wonderful! At all times I feel that I am being challenged to become a better student and [future] psychologist. My professors are extremely knowledgeable and even though I am still an undergraduate student, they do not expect any less from me than they do from my peers. The pros of my program certainly exceed the cons, which I honestly cannot even think of. The only con... Read More

As a accelerated masters student, I would recommend the educational psychology program for those who want to earn their masters degree in 5 years. The faculty and staff are amazing by being prompt and truly caring about your needs as a student. I'm extremely happy about choosing Mason to receive my masters degree.

Pro: Connected to local schools in county. Con: Not a huge department, so fewer specializations of professors.

George Mason has one of the most competative programs in the Psychology area. Indutrial and Organizational Psychology is EXTREMELY hard to get into. The faculty is great and the class are appropriately difficult. It really teaches you what you need to know about your subject matter. I have not had any career counseling yet, but I am sure it will be offered when I get to that point.

Mason has provided me with a unique experience that I believe that I wouldn't find anywhere else. At first, I was completely overwhelmed with meeting new colleagues and professors. I wasn't quite sure where I would fit in. A few weeks in, I was working in the lab and felt a part of the team. The workload has been tough but manageable, and teaching has been a pleasurable experience (even though some graduate students from other programs would easily disagree with me). Overall, I am very happy with... Read More

I love my program so far, the professors are very supportive in mentoring and helping me. It is a great school in a great location. As usual, money is always the problem. If education was free, I would have multiples degrees by now. Needless to say that is not the case, so the problem is living is expensive here for a student.

The pro's of going to GMU are that the faculty are incredible. Very easy to approach, very student oriented. Great research opportunities. I came to GMU because of the profiles of the full-time faculty. The cons- could be more diverse!!

My education at GMU was fantastic! The program I was in had some of the best faculty, in terms of knowledge and in terms of availability. The location of the school is pretty good, though Fairfax itself does not have a great deal of excitement, but it is easy enough to get to DC. Cost of living is a bit steep in the area, but worth it for the quality of the education received.

The psychology graduate program has been an amazing experience and I definitely feel that I made the right choice in moving to northern VA. Although my program concentration is small, it still offers a range of classes and has the support of a larger program, which was essential when I was choosing a program. Beyond my program, professors are always willing to incorporate additional students into their labs and because of my initiative and professors' willingness to help, I have found myself with...
