Friends University

This college is unprofessional. I had to drop 3 classes in Spring of 2023 because they were taught by a woman who wouldn't teach. No one explained the tuition to me and I got in trouble. Two professors were deep into Existentialism and cannot see how that does not go along with Christianity and it did affect my grade in their classes. I was put on Financial Aid Probation for dropping the three classes with a W and took courses over the summer. I got an A and a B, but they recorded my A as a C and... Read More when I complain about these things, they treat me like I'm the problem. Now I have to fight to get my A on my transcript and get my Financial Aid back if I get to attend at all. I contacted many people at this University including the Trustees about my issues with Friends. I am a 49 year old woman and I'm paying cash for my portion of the 17,000.00 per semester and everything is just an oopsy. Very unprofessional. Send your kid to WSU. Never had problems with them and they aren't this expensive.

Friends University was a wonderful school to attend for my undergraduate studies. The professors were like family by the end of my four years. I had to take a semester break as a Sophomore, and the teachers and dean worked with me, so that I could graduate on time. The school was concerned for the students' spiritual wellbeing along with their academic careers. They challenged my thinking, but also gave me space to develop my own beliefs. They had a cap on financial aide, but it was enough for me... Read More to attend college and come out practically debt free. If I had to do it all over again, I would. The campus was beautiful. They staff was helpful. My degree program is one of the top in the state. And the class size is small enough that each student can have individualized attention if they so choose.

Friends University was a fantastic fit for me. As a student athlete and a dedicated student, I found that the university accommodated to my needs. With the small student to professor ratio, I received fantastic instruction and individual attention. Friends provided numerous avenues to get involved with both the university and the community. As a graduate of Friends University, I can say with full certainty if I had to make the college decision I had to make 4 years ago again, I would choose Friends University again, no question.

The Friends MFT Program was an amazing, life-changing experience. Faculty and cohort members are incredibly knowledgable and supportive, and they genuinely strive to improve the (already stellar) program every year. The program is also pretty friendly to adult learners returning to school - many of the people in my cohort worked full-time throughout the 2-year program while juggling kids and family obligations, and were still able to make it work. I am currently working towards my Master's of Marriage and Family Therapy Degree at the Lenexa, KS location. My cohort is not on the main campus in Wichita, but I have never experienced a higher quality of education than what I have gotten from the Lenexa Friends location. The professors are absolutely incredible, the classes are intriguing and immediately applicable to the career, and the bonds you build between your cohort are lifelong and familial. Also, you begin a clinical internship at the site of your choosing around halfway through the program. The only con I would have for the program is that the amount of coursework coupled with the clinical internship can become very overwhelming if you struggle with prioritization or do not have a flexible and open schedule to accommodate the time commitment this program requires.
