Florida State provided me with great opportunities, not only in the classroom learning about Psychology but through opportunities like working in a research lab, connecting me with volunteer organizations, and through allowing me to make connections with other students and professionals in the field. Not only this, but going to school there was fun! It allowed me to come out of my shell more.

My experience at Florida State University was excellent. At Florida State, students are given a surplus of resources that help you turn your passion and interests into skills and experiences. I was able to work in several research labs along with side professors, get one internship, study abroad twice. All of this was only possible with the help of many advisors, professors, and other faculty members. It is a great place to find and build yourself.

Florida State University is truly a unique university. It is located within Tallahassee, the capital of the state, along with two other major schools, FAMU and Tallahassee Community College. The schools all work cooperatively with each other in several departments. We are also the center of political activity within the state which can provide some exciting opportunities to be involved political and with activist groups. FSU is the smallest land area school but it's also beautiful. Several libraries... Read More

Although I attended Florida State University several years ago, I continue to visit campus when I travel home to see my parents, who live in Tallahassee. Over the years, the campus has become more impressive as it has been updated with technology-enhanced classrooms, campus improvements, including new and updated dorms, and an amazing student athletic complex. These improvements extend beyond the campus into the surrounding area, which has improved student safety both on and off campus. When I lived... Read More

Florida State University is one of the best universities in the country in my opinion. They strive for the best and continue to engage in research opportunities to better the world. My program is particularly interesting because most people think about Education as teaching. My particular program, Learning and Cognition, focuses on research and programs that are already in place. We want to make sure that those research designs and programs are the best fit for certain populations. With the ever... Read More

The doctoral program is very good but the undergraduate program is very large and impersonal. There's a lot of opportunity for research and resources available

Attending Florida State University was one of the best decisions I've made. It was a great environment to learn and there were tons of opportunities to get involved in activities/clubs both throughout the psychology department and the University. All of the professors were supportive and willing to help during office hours. One of the best learning experiences I had while at Florida State was getting involved in research labs. In fact, I loved it so much that I decided to stick around after graduation... Read More

A degree in Psychology is like a cake: it is only as good as the sum of its individual parts. While you will be taking rigorous coursework, you must supplement your degree by either working with the department in research, exploring other areas of research, and committing to some community service work. It is highly recommended to consider a second major, as having a psychology degree is more for general competency in the field rather than a direct line to a particular career. It is additionally... As the first person in my family to leave home for the big scary world known as "college", you could say that I was not quit sure what to expect. But only after a short few weeks on campus at Florida State University, I found myself a new home. A home that created memories for me to last a lifetime and an education that propelled me into a field that I wake up loving every day. FSU is a campus that is full of a wonderful, bright, and diverse population- of students and professors alike! There are... Read More

Florida State University provided me with many opportunities both to development both within my education, but also as a student, individual, and leader. The variety of courses that were offered both through my major and minor allowed me to take any route I wished to while staying within my general major. The courses challenged me academically and allowed me to understand the subjects I had the pleasure of learning about. In regards to leadership opportunities, FSU provided me with many ways to express... Read More

I attended Florida State University from 2003 - 2007 and earned my Bachelor's Degree in psychology. I am originally from Maryland and am very happy with my decision to attend school in Florida. The campus is beautiful, my professors were great, and there were many activities for students to get involved in. There are many options for on campus and off campus housing, which is part of the reason why I chose FSU. Being from Maryland, I knew many classmates who attended University of Maryland and commuted... Read More

It was a good fit because I went to a local school - not too far from home and a state school - a little less expensive. It was a good transition from high school to a more independent life/living situation. I found I could draw many parallels from a basic psychology education to the real world and many different industries and jobs. My first job out of college was in Human Resources and it definitely helped me get hired. Use college as a jumping off point in your life. It can transform you - unless... Read More

The program is very well established and the faculty are all experienced. The program itself is heavy on the research and academia focus but there is an applied portion as well that lends to gaining valuable experience during the graduate program. The applied experience is voluntary and up to the individual student to take initiative however. The career opportunities presented by faculty needs more work as offerings were limited to research or academic positions and not branched out to applied positions.... Read More

The Combined Program in Counseling Psychology and School Psychology offers a flexible doctorate that allows you to customize your courses to fulfill your professional goals. The program also offers a variety of practica, research opportunities, and has a supportive faculty. A con would be out-of-state tuition and the lack of funding for Master/Education Specialist students.

I am currently sophomore at the Florida State University and I am a psychology major on the Pre-Med track. Florida State is a great place to live and study with a stunning campus that has places to lounge around and nap and an extracurricular life that can have you busy every day of the week if wanted. The coursework for the school differs major by major but if you are in the field of study that you truly want to be in then you'll find that it is worth all the time and energy.

The most important lesson about college is to realize that academics are not the entire world, you also need to have free-time. It is really easy to strike up a conversation with a classmate or just a random stranger walking down the street honestly. Most everyone here is warm and friendly and always willing to share a joke and a smile. Same goes with the professors. Talk to them, visit during their office hours and ask questions in class. When you actively engage with them then they will be more enthused about the lesson and even a boring subject can be made entertaining.

Honestly you are the only one who knows what school is right for you. When you walk across Landis and see other students running around playing ultimate Frisbee or lounging around with other friends and pets, or when you go to see a midnight movie at the SLC and everyone is dressed up for the Avengers, or even if you are simply sitting in your dorm and you look at the window and cannot help but smile a little, then this is the place for you. There is no greater feeling then being a 'Nole!
