My experience at Florida A&M University was overall very positive and impactful. The culture, sense of community, and pride at an HBCU are unmatched. I don’t know about the other reviewers on here, but since I started in 2015, I was met with nothing but lazy staff. Every call that I have ever been in I had to wait +4hours to be connected to someone. At one point, when I was a freshman, I continuously called advisement for 9 hours (from 9:00am to 6:00pm) to get a hold of someone and got no responses or call backs. My personal experience as a Respiratory Therapist student at FAMU was indeed an educational experience with a practicum of hands on in the clinical setting. The professors were superb in delivering the content for every course and they were available to assist you with questions on a daily basis. Florida A&M University is an excellent university. Every professor is dedicated to the students and wants to make sure each student succeeds. Florida A&M University is a historically black university. It has a rich history of assisting students with their education in order to prepare them for the world. Read More allows you to take honors classes and attend professional conferences. It gives the students an opportunity to collaborate and network with students from other universities. I enjoyed my time as a biology student because my department helped my find many research opportunities and internships. I was able to conduct research at Yale University and Albert Einstein College of Medicine. At the time I wanted to be a physician and they gave me a yearly plan that outlined everything I needed to accomplish in order to get accepted into medical school. The department faculty has an open door policy and it made me feel like I could talk to them about anything. I had a personal relationship with most of my professors and still maintain contact with them. The entire department gave me the impression that they wanted us to become as successful as possible. This feeling rang true because many of my former classmates are at prestigious medical schools all across the country. I am proud to be a graduate from Florida A&M University.

The university staff come from a wide background but yet are still able to relate to you on an individual level. The... Read More School of Business equips you to handle any environment and forces you to get out of your comfort zone with their professional leadership program. Having matriculating through this program in my undergraduate degree it's easy to see the comparison between FAMU alumni and non-FAMU alumni in a boardroom setting. We've been trained to professionally and tactfully articulate in business settings. The school is great if you believe in the program. The only critic I have is if you major in business, focus on a more quantitative aspect of your field. Learn database programming and scripting languages like SQL and Python. Learn how to analyze data. And at the very least Know Excel. All in all, FAMU is a great school just stay focused on life beyond school and set your aim to the job you want. FAMU will prepare you!

FAMU's Health Administration program is about 16 years old as of 2017 so it is a younger degree program in health administration than other institutions. The program is rigorous as far as content but what balances the course work are your cohorts. The program's classes are in the evening hours Monday-Thursday. Studying with your cohorts within a team fashion becomes the norm; it actually mimics some environments in the healthcare field. The career opportunities are endless in Health Administration. Just in my cohort group, we have insurance personnel, finance heads in the insurance and hospital fields, I am a Regional Operations Manager with a large physician performance management group and we even have a vice president at a hospital. Networking opportunities are endless because we do have a close knit group of small cohort classes. There were about 55 credit hours in the program and it was full-time. I worked and attend school. In the last semester, you have the course of completing health management fieldwork or a capstone. Also, during our time as graduate students, we even had the opportunity to participate in case competitions to display what we have learned in course work and applied them to real live cases. I must say looking for opportunities are not led by facility and staff and that being proactive is essential to your success post graduation. Overall my experience was excellent. The University and the program are great and I am satisfied that I matriculated through both.

Greetings I am going into my third year at Florida A&M University. I love my school, and I enjoy the people that attends here. Everyone is like one big family. This school is extremely family oriented. There is no where else I would want to be. As much as I love FAMU there is always room for improvement in certain areas when it comes to financial aid, organizing of school functions.
