From the minute I walked onto Eastern's campus, I knew that I belonged there. Originally, I had applied to the Philadelphia Art Institute, and my brother had decided to go to Eastern. The campus is BEAUTIFUL, and the friendships I built there have lasted a lifetime. My classes were challenging and stimulating. They invoked passion, sparked debate, and promoted... Read More critical thinking. For the first time, I was being challenged to think for myself, challenged to define my faith, and challenged to defend and stand about my ideologies.

Eastern was an amazing school with emphasis on social justice. I was young and naive when I first attended Eastern, and I had the opportunity to be engaged and exposed to many different services, clubs, and teams emphasizing themes of inclusion, love and justice. Many of which were in the light of the Christian Eye; therefore, faith was at the forefront of conversation. My degree in Economics/Finance was in its infancy; therefore, I'm not sure how it compares today. However, class sizes are small... Read More and there is good potential for mentoring and relationships with professors. The campus is beautiful with many places to congregate with friends and others to create solitude in order to contemplate your dreams and aspirations.

As an undergrad, I enjoyed my time in Eastern's Psych and English departments; but, now as a graduate student, I am immensely grateful for the preparation I received during my time there. The professors are brilliant and compassionate, constantly working to build up the whole person of students rather than simply focusing on academic development. They are also committed to providing students with a thorough education. I've been able to walk into my graduate school classes feeling like I had a leg... Read More up on students from some other universities because of the solid foundation in psychology, APA, and writing I gained at Eastern. And, as an alum who is frequently asked back to campus to speak in classes, I have witnessed the continual willingness of professors in both departments to evaluate and update the curriculum to better serve the needs of students. I'm not particularly fond of Eastern's overall administration and some of the policies they have maintained, so I would advise any student considering Eastern to do a full assessment of the school to see if they feel the rules and administration are worth dealing with. Five years since graduating, I feel like it was worth it for me.

Eastern University is clearly the place to be. As a recently-enrolled graduate student, I had countless options to look at when considering the right school for my master's degree. Then came Eastern. Eastern was a phenomenal program that truly maximized my potential to be the best psychotherapist I can be. I felt clinically ready and prepared when I began Internship, and amazed my Supervisor time and time again. She has stated that she has never had interns as well-prepared before. Eastern's academic strength resides in the exceptional faculty. Because it is a rather small school your professors not only remember your name, but they know who you are and are always available to meet and discuss your studies. This strength of faculty members more than makes up for the poor administration of the university and the limited course offerings. Additionally, the small student body makes for close bonding and community building, which is wonderful. Eastern University graduate school offers a quality education that meets the needs of students who also have other responsibilities such as working full time. The admissions staff are extremely helpful in walking potential students through the process, providing excellent support along the way. Although this is a Christian-based school, classes are conducive to students of any faith or no particular faith.
