Concordia University - Wisconsin

I wanted to mention that I went to several Colleges in Michigan but the two colleges I received degrees at were Northern MI University and Concordia University. I first went to several schools in Michigan then ended up at Northern Michigan University where a finished an LPN degree in Nursing. I decided I wanted to keep pursuing other career options once I finished and went right back to school for Business Office degree Associates at Northern Mi University. It was very challenging and lots of clinical but I wouldn't change the experience I had and everything that I learned in it. I also learned alot in my Business Office program but much different than nursing. I also specialized in a medical office so I had additional courses in coding and transcription added to the curriculum. I moved to Green Bay Wisconsin and ended up going into Marketing and Graphic Design through on the job training but ended up taking courses at NWTC for some graphic design courses. I then worked in Marketing / Graphic Design for awhile and completed a Business Communications Bachelors degree while working in Marketing. I still wanted to stay in Marketing/Graphic Design but was happy to have my Bachelors in Business since it was a well rounded degree. I went to Concordia which was a spiritual college that I liked. I had very intense courses in teh evenings after I worked all day and they were very fast paces so it was exhausting. We always had to sumarize our whole semester into a case study with paper and presentation when we got to the end of each course. So you really had to learn what the courses were about and apply them so you could speak at length about them. This degree was very challenging.

This school is straight garbage. All they want is your money just like every other private school and they don't even care about the students that attend there. They have no consideration for the students that struggle financially or care for their needs. My first year I got fined for something that my roommate did because I wasn't part of the situation and missed a hearing since I was out of town after I already explained I was not part of anything my roommate did when I was out of the room. You're better off going anywhere else that is at least half decent and actually has financial flexibility with your needs.

I loved my time at Concordia, I made memories and friends that will last a lifetime. The community at CUW is unmatched, the small class sizes allowed me to get to know not only the professors from my Major classes but also the professors from my general education classes. I could tell that all of my professors liked this too, they made an effort to get to know you. I played sports in college and that experience was also amazing, playing sports at a small college is really something special. Everyone... Read More is there because they love the sport, even if they aren't the best at it. My favorite part of going to CUW was the emphasis on faith development. The campus ministry people there really care about the students and were always ready to help support any struggling student. They didn't just want to convert you, they cared about you as a person.

I attended Concordia University of Wisconsin for my undergraduate in nursing. If I had to change where I would go to get my undergraduate I would not. Concordia University and the College of Nursing program they have is beyond spectacular. When people ask me what I liked most about my experience in this nursing program the first thing that comes to my mind is the professors. I had my Bachelors in nursing at Concordia University Wisconsin. A private Lutheran College that is Christ centered. Everyone treated me with respect as an adult, African American male student in a female dominated profession. Professors are always willing to work with me and answer most of my questions. My higher education experience isn't one of your average college student. I have been able to study in Europe (Spain and France) and just recently got back from an internship in Costa Rica - que chiva, verdad?! Concordia University Wisconsin I hold near and dear to my heart. Not only did I attend for my four year undergraduate Bachelor's of Science in Nursing degree (for which is was on campus for), but I had such an amazing experience that I chose to attend online for my Master's of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner degree as well (which is online). They truly go above and beyond to make themselves available to students to discuss any concerns and answer any questions. The counselors are loyal but will ignore you. So far, Teachers will not honor assigned web schedules and can fail you anytime in incomplete. Not a fair online program for working adults or non traditional students. Ruins your GPA, not for honor students. Students of any age are not treated with respect but slaves within the system. Pros: - Some of the staff go above and beyond to support students. - Some staff members are very encouraging and are sure to provide positive feedback to students, in addition to constructive criticism. - The online journal databases from the library provide a wide variety of resources when doing research. - The library offers free book rental by mail to online students who are not able to access the library resources. - The classes are run through Blackboard, which has an app and can be accessed... Cons: - Costly - Seemingly unnecessary classes have been added to extend the length of programs - these classes feel like a complete repeat of previous classes taken. - financial aid is only available to grad students in the form of student loans. They do not provide grants to grad students. - inconsistency within the program - difficult to get a true answer to questions regarding curriculum and standards based on AOTA guidelines. -Length of the program is excessive for those completing only a master's degree when compared to other programs and AOTA guidelines. Those completing both a master's and bachelor's are only required to go for 1 year longer at the minimum to be considered full-time (12 credit hours for 2 semesters, 6 credit hours in summer). Their courses for the bachelor's portion are online only. - Program director and some other staff are very slow to respond when needed.

My graduate program has extremely dedicated faculty who only want to see us students succeed. They have been very encouraging and helpful. The curriculum is very practical for an aspiring professional in the field and includes internship, independent study, and international options.
