Coastal Carolina first drew me in when I saw photos of the campus. I was a transfer student deciding if I wanted to leave my school in a city up North, and the environment and sights interested me immediately. I liked that Coastal had a larger student body than my existing school, but was not so large that you may get lost in the shuffle like at many of the larger state schools in the country. The resources available to students as well as extracurricular options were also a large factor in my decision... Read More

I truly loved my time at coastal. I felt supported by my professor and my adjuncts. My advisors were amazing at helping me set up my classes. The campus is beautiful and there are so many places to study outside on campus. The library was vast and the librarians were amazing to help find what you need. I felt very prepared for my carrier after graduation. I even had the opportunity for the college to help me find a job. I only with they would expand their masters programs.

Degree: Computer and Information Science

My experience at Coastal Carolina University was great overall but it was not in my major, Computer Science, courses. I would suggest going out of the state of South Carolina if you are pursuing Computer Science as some of my professors within the Computer Science department did not really take the time to teach foundational courses needed for Computer Science, I often had to teach myself or seek outside help. However, the School of Business and Women’s and Gender Studies programs are all very top... Read More

This school is extremely over priced for what you get. They barely are a university in my opinion. The classes are not up to pare with how much it cost to go here. I would say to anyone deciding on this school or there other one, PLEASE PICK THE OTHER ONE. Getting help around this campus is a headache. The Professor egos are through the roof and not helpful. It takes at least a few day or a week for professors to respond to emails, witch by then the assignment has passed and a response does nothing.... Read More

Plenty of academic programs to find the best fit for your interests. There is a wide range of course offerings. Most of the professors are knowledgeable and personable. The class sizes are comfortable -not too big, not too small. The university athletic teams continue to win championships and generate bustling team spirit across campus. It's always exciting on game days. The campus is located in a beautiful beach town. The beach is only about a 20 minute drive from campus. The campus has expansive... Read More

I really enjoyed my time at Coastal Carolina University. The campus is gorgeous and the faculty and staff were super helpful. I enjoyed my classes and the professors in the Art Studio program. I made some of my closest friendships at Coastal, ones that I know will be with me for a lifetime.

I loved my time at Coastal. The professors were awesome and well educated. I struggled with a lot of family issues but my teachers were always there to support me and help me get all my work done. My favorite professor was Dr. Gerald. She was the only black female professor and she encouraged me to go on to get my Masters Degree and come back and teach college courses. I'm currently enrolled in a MA in English at Southern New Hampshire University and I feel that I'm was overly prepared with my undergraduate... Read More

I was lucky to have the opportunity of attending Coastal Carolina University. It did provide a stepping stone for my future academic career in higher education and at the time it was the only University I could afford to attend. Unfortunately I do feel that some of the degree programs offered at Coastal Carolina University are in need of an update or renovation. Some of the degree programs offered are very beneficial to a future career path a student is planning on pursuing, while there are other... Read More

I had a great experience at Coastal Carolina University. I enrolled into the Business Management program which was a quite difficult but developed program at the University. The department is divided by major but has great opportunities for learning. I also obtained a Women's and Gender Studies minor, this part of my college experience was my favorite. Through the Women's and Gender Studies department I was able to be an active participant on campus, raising awareness, and putting together seminars... Read More

My experience at Coastal Carolina University and the Health Sciences department was beyond what I could have imagined. Coming from a tiny high school, I knew I didn't want a tiny school experience, but I am so thankful that I didn't choose my school based solely on size. I gained so many more opportunities at CCU than I could have at a larger school because I had a chance to get to know my professors and take on student leadership roles that would not have been possible at a larger school. I was... Read More

The choice to attend Coastal Carolina University was one of the best decisions I made. This university did not only provide me with the best education but it gave me great experiences. Prior to attending college I was unsure of the possibilities of my future and what I needed to do to get the best out of the University. I attended seminars and conferences that made me uncomfortable so that I could step out of my comfort zone. By the end of my academic career I was holding a session to challenge the... Read More

This program combines a majority of education classes and a minority of English courses. The education classes were not helpful or challenging. My professors behaved as though the courses were simply an afterthought to whatever else they had going .on. Many of the topics were common sense. I made a 4.0 in those classes without trying. The English courses, however, were of superior quality. While participating in those classes, I felt as though my time and money were well-used. The professors were... Read More

CCU was a great school. There were a multitude of opportunities to be social on campus, a part of organized activities, to have fun (school/beach), and to work. I would recommend CCU to any potential students. We are continuing to grow as a community and are ever expanding our campus and class offerings.

The business program offers a solid academic foundation, however the school overall struggles to gain national recognition. The university is located in a tourist town that has nothing but restaurants and beachwear stores. Office jobs are virtually nonexistent or pay a minimum wage for a Bachelor degree level of work. As a result, kids graduate with Bachelor degrees and are forced to accept low level work, if they are lucky to even find jobs outside of the service industry. Many graduates in this... Read More

The Masters in Arts of Teaching program at Coastal Carolina is an extremely helpful one. I majored in History and never took any education classes at CCU and in 14 months I will learn how to become a teacher. The fact that the faculty members are able to turn students that for the most part have taken no education classes in their undergrad career and turn them in to teachers in 14 short months is amazing. I feel that, we, the students, have become adequately prepared for our future teaching careers through the classes taken through the MAT program. I also feel that we are held to high standards with the MAT program, which instills good work ethic and workplace performance in each of us. It is also a pro that our professors are readily accessible in times of need and are more than willing to help solve any problem... Read More
