My experience in the teaching program at Central Washington University was overall a positive and worthwhile one, especially because I completed a double major in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education (ECE). The hands-on experiences in the program were especially valuable and made a significant difference in my learning. Practicum placements, classroom observations, and interactive assignments allowed me to apply theory in real-world settings. These experiences were not only educational but also a lot of fun, and they helped solidify my understanding of child development, teaching strategies, and classroom management. Engaging directly with students in actual classrooms gave me confidence and practical skills that can’t be gained from textbooks alone.

The cohort model, particularly being part of a night cohort, had both advantages and challenges. On the positive side, it created a sense of community among students who were balancing work, family, and school. However, guidance could have been more clearly advertised, and at times, students had to actively seek out information regarding program requirements and long-term planning. Additionally, the quality of instruction varied. Many instructors were knowledgeable, passionate, and supportive, but not all demonstrated the same level of professionalism.

CWU provided a community environment that fostered both traditional learning and critical thinking. Not only are all instructors highly committed to every student's success, all staff goes above and beyond to help in any way they can. My time at CWU is cherished, and I recommend CWU campuses in Lynnwood and Des Moines specifically for anyone with schedule limitations or location requirements - an easy way to get a quality education from the same professors in Ellensburg without the hassle or class... Attending CWU was an amazing experience. It's a beautiful community that has embraced it's University population and is welcoming to it's students. Getting my degree was much simpler than I expected thanks to the constant involvement of education advisor and department faculty. Each quarter I met with my advisor to make sure I was staying on track with my program and that if I needed any assistance or changes to my program, it happened in a timely matter. The housing and food were very good. Dorms... Read More were clean and mostly quiet. Apartment living was a little louder. There is a HUGE party scene at CWU even though there isn't a Greek system.

Central Washington University provided an excellent foundation for my education, career and life goals. The college as a whole demonstrates diversity and inclusivity by celebrating and acknowledging the differences amongst the students, faculty, staff, and community members. The CWU Social Services and Sociology Department prepares students by providing them with the resources, experiences, and discussions needed to be successful in the field. I would recommend the Central Washington University Social Services and Sociology Department and the college as a whole to anyone looking for a school that genuinely cares about the success and well-being of their students.

Central Washington University is a fantastic choice if you are unsure of what you want to do as a career. They have many program types and a broad general requirements that allow everyone to look into different fields and departments. If you do know what your going into, you can plan you general requirements to fit with in your field of study. I have no idea what he does and rarely am told of anything positive happening on that level. As far as the education of the school it is fantastic no matter how questionable the actual campus is ran.

Central Washington University is an excellent school where students in the Law and Justice department learn the basics of the legal field in a variety of specializations. These specializations range from pre-law, forestry and law enforcement in class with a diverse group of colleagues and professors.
