I am finishing up my doctoral degree in education (higher education specialization). Overall I had a great experience at Capella! Each class was 10 weeks. There were 10 core classes and then 6 advanced doctoral classes where I wrote my dissertation. I became very close with my cohort. My mentor was attentive and available. The work is challenging yet manageable. I feel a sense of pride that I am almost done with a Dr. in front of my name! If I had to do it all again, I would still choose Capella!... Read More

This for-profit business is just awful. I did not experience complications until I was nearly complete with my program. They are very misleading with guideline procedures of doctoral course projects and most of them are never satisfied with progress of assignments. I had to change my topic and revise all my signature assignments despite of the satisfactory grades I achieved for the first three course projects. They expect revisions endlessly. The coordinator from the doctoral success program at some... Read More

I am Dr. Joseph Mamatz. Many of m4colleagues earned masters and doctoral degrees through Capella University. Each critique about Capella University was 100 percent accurate. Students learning the very same content fro face to face education as online. The exception being an online students must be autonomous leaner. Here's what you need to know about Capella University: I worked on my Ph.D. from 2008 to 2010. It was an arduous process with little support provided. Once I completed it, there was NO career support provided, NONE. Then I applied for adjunct online teaching positions with Capella from 2010 to 2017, at least twice per year, and each time I was told they wouldn't hire me because I was a graduate. Yet they would gladly hire someone with NO experience to teach online doctoral classes, especially if... Read More

When I decided to return to school to get my PhD, I did a lot of researcher. I knew I wanted a degree in Education and I knew that I did not want an EDD, but a PhD. After doing a lot of research, I decided on Capella University as my choice. I entered the program and was given the maximum amount of transfer credit allowable from work beyond my master's degree, leaving me only the core courses, 2 electives, the preliminary exams and the dissertation to complete. My academic advisors, throughout my... After I began to research online PhD programs I was very interested in Capella's program because it provided a thorough description of coursework, comprehensive exams, and dissertation expectations. I also received a pop-up chat line that answered questions I had concerning the PhD program. I then received a call from an enrollment counselor who really explained the admission process. I was impressed with the professionalism I experienced and decided to apply to the doctoral program. The process... Read More
