I have had an excellent experience at Capella University. My enrollment counselor and academic advisors have been very thorough when providing answers to my questions and finding the correct answer is they are unsure. My professors have been very professional and have challenged me to be successful by incorporating expectations for a learner in a doctoral program. Read More Capella developed residencies that helped me develop a substantial dissertation research plan and feeling prepared to enter the world of comprehensive exams and begin my dissertation course work. If you are interested in financial assistance, the financial aid office is interested in helping you apply for financial aid that is appropriate for your level of course work. I would highly recommend Capella University for completing your degree....regardless of what level you education you are considering. Thank you.

I had to be in a year to give a review but I founded Capella to be a maze. I would not recommend Capella to anyone. The instructors are not knowledgeable. Capella also changed their curriculum several times and regardless to when you entered or the maximum completion time, you will be placed in the new curriculum or be withdrawn from the school. Read More reviews and graduation rates and also look into where the professors received their degrees. When you have problems at Capella there is no one to help. All communication is through emails. This school is constantly in reform and the students are caught in the middle. The advisers and mentors are not knowledgeable of the laws in your state or how to get you through the program. The reviews for the dissertations are not given in a timely manner. Advisers and mentors are only there for the pay. Stay away from Capella! Mentors have more students than they can handle and this is a big disadvantage to the student who is writing the dissertation. I had a bad experience at Capella and would not recommend this school to anyone. This is not a good online school. I had a good enrollment counselor and she quit. Most schools grandfather students in when making a change to the program, but not Capella. My dissertation was being reviewed by the School of Education and I was close to maximum completion time. Capella placed me in the SMR prgram. I had to do a title for the 2nd time and proposal also for the 2nd time. All of my emails were ignored. I lost time and money attending Capella. Mentors will not pass in dissertations to be reviewed in a timely manner. This school is awful! Stay away from Capella.

Capella will max out your financial aid. They held me back and would not let me go through the process in which I enrolled. They made me go through a SMR process where I had to write the proposal again. I had to write a pre-proposal, proposal and SMR. I had to repeat components that I had already done. I am a current student and was too deep in program to turn around before I identified issues. Strongly feel the educational process at Capella SOE is designed to keep students in the program. Unlike other learners experiences, my mentor was really good and available. But anytime when documents were submitted to the university, they were lost, had long waits for feedback, after receiving feedback small changes/adjustments to dissertation, SMR, paperwork, or proposal during the process (that took me... Read More a half an hour to fix) is resubmitted to wait all over (10 to 14 business days) to repeat the process. Was not told this up front when I enrolled. No matter what anyone says this is NOT a normal process. Other students have had similar experiences and spoke to professors on my dissertation committee that said their other learners submitted paperwork to the university have been lost in the past as well. This all results in massive delays and more money out my pocket. I should finish my PhD soon but took a whole year longer because of the process and costed me $20,000 dollars extra. I did voice my frustration to the school but was not heard when I asked for compensation back. The federal government is investigating schools like Capella.
