My education at CSULB has prepared me to work in the field of social work. The school and the social work program has taught me various existential and classroom settings the techniques that will be useful when beginning my career to help those without a voice. This education has definitely been a stepping stone in the right direction to be an advocate in policy change.

CSULB's School of Social Work has a super diverse cohort for my year, and I believe each year is diverse as well. Different students from every ethnic/racial background, every age group, location, etc. It has been an awesome experience growing with my cohort and learning from one another. I love how the school makes very intentional efforts to decide our placements and works with the student to negotiate any issues at the placement. I also appreciate the faculty. The professors really want you to succeed in your classes. They also want to prepare you to work in the field of social work. The internship program is great in teaching you real world experiences to help you understand what you are learning in class.

One of the pros of my graduate program is its reputation and good relationship with other community agencies around the area. Another one is that the staff and professors are very supportive and knowledgeable. One of the cons is lack of financial aid for graduate students.

Attending CSULB School of Social Work part-time program was one of the greatest experiences of my life. The professors really care about your future and really helped prepare me for my future as a social worker. Also, my colleagues and fellow classmates were so helpful and experienced and helped me become the best social worker that I can be. If you are thinking about applying to an MSW program, long beach is the way to go. You get the best bang for your buck!!

I love my graduate program. I have only been at CSULB one semester but I have learned plenty already. The professors and my colleagues have been great and helpful. Everyone has been open and willing to participate. I have enjoyed the fact that many of my colleagues know how to work as a team and are willing to answer any questions. One of the pros of my graduate program is that students have the opportunity to receive the advising and mentoring one needs to realize his or her dreams because of the student-centered philosophy.

The professors in my program are very knowledgeable and most are working in the field. The only downside so far was the lack of a reminder for the financial aid application priority deadline.

I have not started the graduate program yet. However, one pro is that it is a generalist program, so we gain knowledge in all areas of social work practice. Though I enjoy that, the fact that there are no specific concentrations is also a con for me.
