By entering the DNP program, the program will aide in my focus on primary care practice by providing the highest level of education in nursing. As recommended by the IOM, Future of Nursing, doubling of nurses with doctorate degree by 2020 will advance the nursing profession by increasing and retaining nurse clinicians and teachers resulting in the same level of educational knowledge; as a result reduce mortality and morbidity and help restore widespread communities. However, the cons of my graduate program is the lack of available professors to provide the level of knowledge and intimate relationship with the students.

My experience as a graduate student at Barry University's School of Social Work has been incredible! The professors have endowed a great amount of knowledge and I am still in my foundation year! The School of Social work has recently adopted a new curriculum that is trauma based, which has been extremely beneficial interning with child in foster care who have experienced trauma in their past home.This program also has an accelerated program, so I will complete my MSW degree as a part time student... Read More in 2 and 1/2 years instead of the 4 years at the local public universities. I would highly recommend this program to anyone interested in becoming a social worker!

I feel that it was to my advantage to graduate with my Bachelors in Science because it helped prepare me for the qualifications needed for medical school. However, there are not many jobs that are looking for someone with a Bachelors in Science. As far as the actual program, it was great to have a one on one interaction with the professors. The faculty as well as the professors are awesome. They are all very helpful, and they will help guide you in the right direction. I cannot think of one disadvantage... I really like my graduate program. Even though i'm taking online courses I feel like my academic advisor and my professor are always available whenever I need them. Their response time is remarkable as is their willingness to help. My only complaint or con would be the actual cost to attend the University and theirs even a pro with that, because of the position I hold with my current employer I'm actually receiving a discount which is extremely helpful. All of that immediate and undivided attention i'm receiving comes at a cost, but its a cost i'm willing to accept.

I was attracted to Barry University's Masters in Photography Program because of the facilities offered as well as the competency of the faculty. Barry still offers a color darkroom and the possibility of exploring alternative processes. The professors put a high value on understanding classical photographic processes as well as digital and that was really important to me as an artist. There is also a varied teaching style amongst the professors, so that no student can say they don't have a professor... Read More they like and that inspires/motivates them. The only drawback to Barry is its cost for graduate students and lack of scholarship aid. I think that Barry should make a concerted effort to offer at least some kind of scholarship money to graduate students. If they do this, then they will be one of the last, best, photography schools in the country!
