After 15 years of dabbling in taking a class here or there, it was time to complete my Bachelors degree. By chance, we drove through Russellville and noticed the quaint campus. The program was academically based, which was important to me, not just skills based. This made it a little more challenging to balance multiple courses at one time for the normal three month courses, but the experience was well worth it. Thanks to this program, I was able to advance at my company and my car proudly displays an ATU license plate holder!

LPN to RN program. If you are looking to to advance your career and still work good luck. The lectures along with supposed reviews match nothing like the tests. You will have 4 weeks worth of studying with only 40 questions on the test. If you were an A and B student kiss that good bye. I honestly do not know why anyone would want to go to the nursing program. It is really not worth it. Good luck getting any kind of review for tests. The tests are all over the place. Arkansas Tech University is a quaint campus setting. All the resources necessary for study with vibrant on campus activities and a community ready to welcome students off campus. Affordable and array of scholarships available as well. Great degree programs with generally small student-teacher ratios which allow students to really know their peers and professors. I transferred to Arkansas Tech after 4 years of school at UA-Fort Smith. The biggest difference right off the bat was the helpfulness of the administration. If I needed assistance, or guidance, the staff at Tech were right there to help. They were kind, efficient and tackled any problem I had with ease. The teaching staff was great. I had a wonderful experience at Arkansas Tech University. The campus theme is "Welcome Home" and you truly feel like Tech is your home after your time there. The campus environment is relaxed and it fully represents the term "southern hospitality." The opportunities available at Arkansas Tech University are staggering, considering you still get the small campus feel. I thoroughly enjoyed being able to walk to my next class in 10 minutes without worrying about parking. The financial aid office encouraged us (my husband and I, married young) to get substantial student loans, far above what we needed for tuition and books. My husband blew the money from both our loans. He is now in prison (by the grace of God we are still together and he has got his life under control with the Lord's help) and I am raising three children by myself for the next 4 years. I had to default on the loans and I will be paying them for at least the next 20 years. I just enrolled in NPCC... Please, if you must get loans, make them as minimal as possible, having money now doesn't negate having to pay far into your future!

I would have liked to go have gone to a different college, but my undergraduate experience cannot be traded. I chose to focus on the academic aspect of college more so than the social part. Although, ATU does have opportunities to meet people on campus and do fun activities, it seemed like I always had to work. Read More degree program has a lot of room for electives, second field's of study, and/or possibly a second degree. I liked that I was still able to pursue my studies in psych, but I could also pursue an associate's and two minors as well. I love the professors in the Behavioral Sciences Department and the Biological Sciences Department. I am from the Russellville area where as each professor at Tech has an interesting background and how they ended up at Tech. I decided to stay at ATU and get a Master's simply because I am very comfortable there and I know I would be able to receive good financial aid. ATU has a high acceptance rate and is willing to let you in if you do the work. I took classes in Psych, Criminal Justice, Biology, French, and Philosophy and each professor is very educated and wants you to learn. Tech is focused more on a teaching university instead of a research university. Also, there are many resources for students such as Norman Career Services which helps with interviews, resumes, and getting you prepared for employment. There is Student Counseling Services which a student can go to if they are feeling overwhelmed or there are some issues going on that they would like to talk to someone about. We have a lot of International Students here at Tech which introduces students to different cultures. Tech does have it's flaws too. Common things that a Tech student is bound to be irritated by is parking, rain, and the library. Parking can be a giant hassle, especially on "Time Out For Tech" which if when high school students and their families visit the campus. I recommend getting there at least 15 minutes early so that you can get a parking spot, walk to class, and then get your seat. I also recommend rain boots, because Russellville, and Tech is not excluded, floods somewhat when it rains. After periods of long rain fall, "Lake Tech" should be expected. One of my peeves is the library and how it is usually cold, people can be loud, and during finals getting a computer is really hard. However, I am in the library every day, so if you are like me, you are bound to experience these things. Overall, I do recommend Tech to my friends and others, but if you are given the opportunity to go elsewhere consider other places. I am from here, so Tech is my home. It's a love/hate relationship for me and the city of Russellville. But I am staying for my Master's, so obviously it does not annoy me that much. I am just so comfortable here that it's hard to get out of that comfort zone and explore other options.

I am a full time student with a full time career. I am a mother of three children and active in community events. I have been able to further my education with the wonderful program Arkansas Tech University offers online. The advisors are very helpful and the professors and instructors are very educated and interested to assist students.
