It is hard to get in contact with your professors. They say email them and yet they never reply to the emails. Financial aid is the worst. Trying to get help with financial aid documents or getting questions answered is ridiculous. They couldn't explain to me why my stipend went from a very large amount to nothing. Let me tell you my story since I have read many reviews and none are like mine. I graduated High School in 1997, and only had 10 college credits from my community college. In late 2014 I decided it was time to go back to school. After reading multiple reviews I contacted WGU and requested information. I decided on WGU because of the online program and the cost. They asked me as part of my admission process to take their Academic Assessment. Since it had been many years since I had been in school... Read More I won't lie it was hard. The math section was killer but I have never been good at math! They reviewed my score (overall score that does not breakdown your scores to determine what sections you need help in) and explained to me that they were working with 2 other online schools Sophia Pathways and Straighterline to assist students that needed a refresher. They asked me to take a College Algebra I course from either, and then come back and retake the assessment. The only thing with doing this was that you cannot use financial aid to pay for the class ($329), but if you successfully pass the class you get college credit for Algebra I that transfers directly to WGU. I was a little frustrated, but after investigating both Sophia Pathways and Straighterline I went with Sophia Pathways because of the flat fee. With Sophia they give you 60 days to complete the course, and you do it on your time by watching videos and working problems, ending with a final taken online through ProctorU. It was alittle creepy having someone watching you take your exam, but it is done to ensure your work is yours. I successfully passed the course and final and within 3 days WGU had applied my Sophia credit. I retook the assessment and was admitted. I believe the Sophia course prepared me for what online school would be, and while at first I was hesitant I would do it again. I started my first term in Sept. of 2015 and I am about to finish this term at the end of February. To be a WGU student you have to complete a minimum of 13 credits (4-5 classes) a term (6 months). When I first started I kept thinking when is this gonna go bad after reading different online school reviews. So far I have had everything go right! You can do 1 class at a time (suggested at the beginning), and you have a mentor assigned to you that calls you every week to check on you. Teresa ....you are amazing! She's very professional and provides guidance, support, and a nudge when I need it. Each course has a group of mentors that can answer any questions you have. If you read the material and wish to do a web class they offer multiple classes at different times. Your portal is very user friendly and they set you up with an email address you can access through it. The courses are hard at times, but the resource materials are great. WGU has been an awesome experience for me! WGU really wants you to succeed, and they lend so much support and assistance it's unbelievable! Their virtual library with live chat has been a huge help with papers. It has thousands of books on any topic you can think of 24/7, and provides multiple types of citing formats. If you have technical or general questions they have people there to answer your questions till 10pm. Everyone I have dealt with at WGU has been professional, and has kept their promise. To me I feel blessed to have found WGU.

Dear Online Review Prospects, University of Phoenix is a great school where you learn exactly what you put into it. If you are a student who consistently needs your hand to be held to learn, this is not the school for you. I will tell you that the beginning classes carry some lazy and fairly undesirable students who do not contribute to the team assignments; however, the further up you go, you will find that most students are prepped well to contribute to assignments for the team. Faculty varies a little too; some of the professors are super achievers and schedule a ton of personal and team projects each and every week. Also, some professors will nit pick you left and right and you will never get a perfect score. Others, however, are a little more relaxed but carry themselves up to standard. Overall, I will grade this school a solid 9 out of 10. I would grade it a solid 10 if it was not for the team assignments. Some students are very lazy which sometimes makes it hard to achieve 100 out of 100. I will leave you with this note. If you are ready to work hard, without anyone chasing you around, this is definitely a school you may want to consider. If you need a personal interaction, you will have a hard time with online education.

I cannot speak for everyone but I can speak for myself. I have a job in management in manufacturing so it does not really matter what school I attend as long as it is accredited by the US Dept. of Education which Penn Foster College is listed as DEAC, now if you want to transfer either go to the school that partners up with PFC or go to a regionally accredited school. All the final exams were proctored and challenging. I had to put in a lot of work to get my degree. All my instructors returned my phone calls and emails in a timely manner. Customer service was excellent as well. I never had an issue with the payment since I always paid each semester in full and got a discount for it. Just make sure you really read the fine print and ask questions before enrolling, make sure you really understand what you are signing up for. Do not judge this school as illegitimate. I know people who have went to the top schools in the country and are in debt and can't get a job or make way less than I do. This is the truth. I am debt free because this school is cheap and allowed me time to work and study. Otherwise, I really would not have the time or the money. It doesn't matter what school you attended. What matters in the end is your drive and determination. It depends if you are a winner or not. I believe I won because I got a degree the cheapest way possible and have a good job that pays well.

I see so many bad reviews on here and not a lot of explanation as to why. I think past students did not do their research or really understand what they were getting into when signing up. (payment polices and what not). I am in the Business Management Bachelor's program and I am now on my 4th course with this school. Read More helpful. I'm also on a FB page for Penn Foster business students that I find is invaluable as a way to connect with other students. Their coursework is tough and up to date with current trends. This school lives up to other school's. This is not a scam or rip off at all. I am a previous straight A student and I spent HOURS today studying my butt off and passed with an 80%. It's challenging yet rewarding. I can't wait to complete this program and know full well I received a top notch education. Also, anytime I have a question or concern I contact the school and I always hear back right away with extreme mannerism and professionalism.

The university's online program was the best opportunity for me as a working adult. I am thankful for the flexibility that it offers. Although some individuals speak negatively about the university, what you get out of the learning experience will depend on your motivation to learn. This college is great if you want to work on your degree and have a full time job as well. The 8-week online courses are fast paced and enable you to get credits quick. Most classes are challenging but not too difficult to get an A/B if you just do your work and stick to the syllabus. A typical week involves discussion posts and replies and a paper/case study either each week or every other week and a final project or test at the last week. In short...I've been told to wait and wait until closer to graduation for an advisement audit... so I expect I'll either graduate come Spring or be told I still need a class at the last minute....no guidance whatsoever. I'm only 2 or 3 classes away from completing my degree but cannot get any solid answer for the mistakes in my advisement report and just get told that will be sorted out when closer to your graduation date. I've requested a advisement report audit twice within the last year to figure out what I needed to graduate; because some of the classes I completed are showing in the wrong areas making it look like I need to take more classes than really necessary. I'M TWO CLASSES AWAY FROM GRADUATION!, (OR 3 depending on the mistakes in my advisement report) hence why I've been contacting advisement over and over again to figure out the issue.... The advisement/administration is horrible to work with and just use copout methods and have never really given me a sense of 'hey these people care about me' feeling. I've been told to wait and wait until closer to graduation... so I expect I'll either graduate come Spring or be told I still need a class at the last minute....no guidance whatsoever.

Having just completed numerous courses with Capella, I can honestly say the courses and instructors fully prepared me for the advancement of my career with real world assessments and projects.
